Ban on "Pit Bull" Ban

http://www.cheridinovo.ca/blog/
First of all, deepest apologies for not having posted here, there were very few organizers for this event and all of us somewhat overwhelmed, however, it went VERY well.
We gathered outside Queens Park to hear Ruby, Cheri Dinovo, Cathy Prothros (DLCC) and a few of our own, speak to the crowd and press before the bill was introduced.
that was in the morning,
In the afternoon about ten of us attended the introduction of the bill in the house.
The bill that would ban the "Pit Bull" ban, bill 222, was introduced and thus passsed first reading,
it was supported by the NDP and the Conservatives..AND some Liberals.
Bills passing first reading is an expectation.. its the second and third that count
Between now and then (somtime early next fall) we MUST win over some Liberals so we will be asking all of you to help by contacting your MPPs, especially Liberals.. we need to show them, once again, we will NOT back down.. EVER!
This is a very positive situation for us again, we have hope now cuz WE REFUSED TO QUIT... Please help, its been a long fight thus far and the core group is TIRED! Above is Cheris Web site ... hope the link works.
BTY Rocky and Zelda, pets.ca doggys were both in attendance!!!!!!!!!!
pics to follow

Awesome! Glad to see a good turnout!

I'm amazed. I call myself a Liberal. I had no idea that was part of the Liberal agenda. I guess it's time for a new title. Shows me for not doing enough research, huh?

Our political parties are totally different than yours.

The Canadian Liberal party and the American liberals are not anywhere near close. In Canada we have the Conservative Party that are considered far right (for the most part), the NDP Party that are considered far left (for the most part) and the Liberal party that is supposed to be in the middle.

good explanation Rainbow. About the partys.

We need to get some Liberals to vote for Cheri's Bill, so by next September, we already have a few committments!!!!! thats why we feel hopeful that it is Possible to get the bill passed, and with the threat of the election if we can get people to organize in there respective ridings.... well.. we CAN DO IT!

Is there any way to find out how specific MPPs voted at the first reading? I seem to recall writing to ours several years ago and him telling me he was opposed to the BSL.

Thank you for the clarification about the difference in parties. America and Canada are so similar in so many ways I thought that was one of them.

In the crowd pic I am sitting on the ground with the brown coat and Rocky is the white dog with the red sweatshirt.. it actually says I'm a Lover not a BIter.. lol we are beside Cheri. We had a lot of support.
But we really need to get Liberals to break ranks this time.. we did get a few in the house though so thats a really good sign!
