Question What's in a name?

Hey there everyone, I have been so busy sending pups home this past month that I have kinda put you all on the back burner, sorry. After reading many of the recent posts I feel urged to post this.

It seams that there are a number of people out there who do not realize that the cute, new "breed" they are inquiring about is actually a mix. So, I thought I would scratch together a list of all those "breeds" with an explanation as to what they actually are. Please feel free to add any of the ones I missed, and I am sure that I will miss some.

The "oodles"

Labradoodle (Lab x Poodle)
Goldendoodle (Golden ret. x Poodle)
Rottidoodle (Rotti x Poodle)
Shepadoodle (Shep x Poodle)
Schnoodle (Schnauzer x Poodle)

(I really see a trend)

The "poos"

Cockapoo (cocker spaniel x Poodle)
Shi-poo (Shi tzu x Poodle)
Wheatipoo (Wheaten Terrier x Poodle)
Jack-a-poo (Jack Russel x Poodle)
Yorkiepoo (Yorkie x Poodle)
Eskipoo (Eskimo x Poodle)
Westipoo (West Highland White Terrier x Poodle)

And the others

Chug (Chihuahua x Pug)
Puggle (Pug x Beagle)
Morkie (Maltese x Yorkie)
Bassadore (Basset x Lab)
and the worst, Schnottie (Schnauzer x Scottie)

If I have missed any please update the list. I am not trying to start fights with anyone who may have one of these dogs, I am just trying to let the uneducated know that a "designer breed" is not a breed at all, just a dog designed by someone to make money off of their poor pet.

I saw an advertisement for the following 'breeds'

Chiweenie (Chihuahua x Miniature Daschund)
Chi-Poo (Chihuahua x Poodle)
Peki-tzu (Pekingese x Shih-Tzu)

Ooo I have:

Chowerd --- German Shepherd, Chow
Borauscol -- Border Collie, Australian Cattle Dog

And if I bred them they would be:

Choauserd

Of course they are both fixed, so I guess that won't happen. Oh, I didn't pay anything for my mutts either. But I love them dearly.

You forgot one of the more popular ones: Schnoodle (Schauzer + Poodle)

My mom has a ShiLhasa (Shih Tzu + Lhasa Apso) But he was a freeby mutt too.

I love my freebie mutts. They are great dogs. It burns me when people try to make money off of mixed breeds and label them as "designer." Especially when my local pet store does it. Unfortunately they are the only ones to carry the dog food I feed. Anyway, for the ...

Schnoodle indeed

But seriously, I wouldn't want a poo dog, the regular ones **** enough as it is

couldn't resist that one.

They used to be called mutts, ******* dogs, mixed breeds, crossbreeds ... who cares? I prefer calling them Pure Dogs, the real self-mixed mutts that is, because they have "gone back to nature" and not cared a doodle about whether or not they are both a poodle (or whatever else). As long as they are "good dogs" (i.e. well behaved from a human point of view) it doesn't matter, but paying pure-bred prices for a mix is ... crazy at best.

Now onto the next level

Now I think I have seen it all, people are breeding mixes to other mixes to broduce yet more "breeds", ugh.

I picked up a local shopper magazine to find ads for...
Bichon -pom-poo puppies - $400
Pug x Pug/jack russel - $600
Shorki-poo pups, shihtzu/poodle x yorkie/poodle - $650

and then I see this

Purebred Standard Poodles, 4 months old, papers and shots, $250. This is soo sad.

I was thinking when I glanced at some of these that one could hardly make up this stuff. I so agree with
