Hello from Alberta!

Hi everyone!

Like some others here, I stumbled across this forum when I was googling the BARF diet... and here I am! So far, I have done most of my reading in the BARF forum and have gained tons of valuable information so thank you!

A little introduction to my fur family. I am the slave to three dogs, one rabbit, one tarantula, and some fish

First, the dogs. My oldest, at 8, is a maltese X named "Sassy". She is the smallest of my dogs, but is by far the alpha dog of the pack (after me of course! ). We are a great team and did pet therapy in a special needs unit in Saskatoon when I was going to Uni there.

My second is a 6 year old shihtu X named "Furby". He likes to pretend he is tough, but is actually quite the suck. Sometimes I think he feels overwhelmed by all the ladies in the house!

My last one is a 2 year old boxer named "Brynn". I somehow went from adopting a rottweiler from a rescue in Calgary to bringing home this crazy, goofy, lovable boxer. Like most boxers she is a true clown and never takes anything seriously!

I also share my home with a rabbit I got from a rescue in Saskatoon. "Bear" is a sweetie... 2 years old, jet black, a real beauty!

Next is my tarantula. Her name is Samara, she is a chilean rose hair approx. 4-5 years old. She recently molted and it was the neatest thing!

And of course, no home would be complete without a fish tank!

And that about covers my crew!

Welcome to the board, cassiek! Sounds like your days are full.

Let me be the first to bug you for pictures of your crew!

So when a tarantula molts, does the discarded skin look like an empty tarantula.

Hi all!

Thanx for the kind welcome! I will gladly post some pics of my crew... and they do indeed keep my days full! Wouldn't have it any other way though! In fact, it might even become more crazy if I adopt a 8 year old border collie from a local humane society I volunteer at that really needs a home

I look forward to reading all the info on these forums, and perhaps even contributing one day!

Ok, I am apparently having issues adding pics I will add some once I figure it out!!

Thank you, klmccallum! Life just wouldn't be the same without them and certainly not nearly as fun!!

Can you post a picture of your spider friend as well?
I am strangely intrigued- does your spider handle well?

This is a picture of me and my girl taken about a year ago. She is incredibly friendly (which I know many people will have a hard time believing - ) I got her when she was approx. 4 years old (female tarantulas can live well into their 20's). I hold her on a regular basis and she is fairly quiet. Usually just stands in my hands and doesn't move much... chilean's are great tarantulas for beginners as they are known for being pretty friendly! I enjoy her... most people call me crazy!
