Dane in need

I can't post this one under adoption thread because this Dane only needs a family for a short period. His owner is moving to Texas and no airplane company wants to transport this dog because of the hot weather here and in the U.S. So the owner has to find another way , but needs to move by the end of the month. If you think you can help, by dogsitting George for a while, please pm me. Thanks. (he's in Montreal)

I don't know if she would have time, she's leaving real soon. But if you are really considerating it , I could ask her. BTW, if any of you are afraid this person will abandon the dog ,she was refered by someone I know from one SPCA . And IF she would ever leave the dog, I would take him and place him in a rescue, I will take responsability for him.

Thanks I do have their e-mail , but I don't think a rescue is the best people to ask to dogsit a dog you know ? He is not up for adoption. I don't want this dog to take the place of another that would need it more (like an abandon dog)

Is there a way to organize transport by car?

Would the family be interested in paying someone to take care of their dog?
There's a guy in my area who kept a grey hound for 8 months for someone. I could always ask him, but there would be a fee involved.

Thanks Michelle and Poodletalk. I called the lady twice today, no answer or answering machine. And she's leaving tomorrow so there's not much we can do. Thanks anyway.

Don't worry about (why did I wrote George? ) his name is Etienne. The person who sent me the e-mail is Etienne's owner friend, she's at the spca. She knows to contact me if Etienne needs to be put in a rescue.

I"m sorry ,I know sometimes my posts are not very clear ! The woman that has Etienne is friend with someone who works at the spca. It's the lady from the spca that sent me the e-mail to see if I could help. And I think it's weird too that they say they can't fly the dog. I moved to Vancouver with my 2 cats once, around this time of year. If anything , I heard it was cold in the baggage compartment.

Wow! He's gorgeous! I hope everything works out for him.
As for the no flying thing, It's a fairly new regulation. Animals can't be flown over Christmas holidays due to baggage allowances (everyone has too much baggage), nor can they be flown over the summer due to the heat. Although the compartment is cold in the air, it is very hot when the plane is on the ground, which, as anyone who's ever had a delayed flight will know, can be as long as several hours. The Christmas thing is 2 years old, and I think the summer thing is new this year but I'm not positive about that.

Dane in need

It is really hot in Texas right now. What about arranging transportation from Montreal to Texas? I could do the first run from Montreal to Plattsburgh.

Anyone know a trucker that does a run from Montreal to Texas?

The owner's father is dogsitting him until they can find a solution. They will probably wait until the airline gives the ok to fly him.
