Older cat losing weight

Jack is 12 yrs old and has lost a lot of weight over the last month. Appetite not as good as it used to be. He is not in pain and otherwise functions same as usual. Drinking water and using litter box. Lives in multi cat environment. Dewormed in August ? We are concerned and he is headed to the vet this week. Comments appreciated. Lots of different opinions from vets on the phone... from worms to heart problems ??

Your vet will be the only one who can tell you what if anything is wrong. Fingers crossed it's nothing to worry about.

Poor Jack. Could be anything and until bloodwork is completed all would be just guesses. I would be getting the work done sooner rather than later to ease your mind. I would not be able to stand the wait.

When is your appointment, can you make it any sooner.

that it is not serious.

Unhappy

Pepper lost weight too. I'd get blood work done. In his case, his kidneys were failing. I miss him so much.

Be sure you get the full geriatric (sometimes called wellness) panel with urinalysis to make sure they check his thryoid & kidney levels

good luck
