Question about lice treatment for dogs.
Hi,
I was just wondering, our puppy needs a follow-up treatment of Revolution, a topical lice treatment and I was wondering if anyone knew about how much it costs to get done. We adopted our puppy and she had one treatment, but they recommended that we get another just to make sure there were no eggs or anything. TIA, Amanda |

I am not sure of the cost but if you don't get it done then you will have a worse problem when the eggs hatch. I would also ask your vet if Ivermectin is safe to use with puppies instead of Revolution.

Thanks!
Thank you! I'm going to call our vet on Tuesday and see what he says. I wish I could call tomorrow, but we have a stat holiday so nothing's open.

Just so you know, Revolution is mainly used as a flea and heartworm treatment, not for lice. It also works against some intestinal parasites and ear mites, both of which are common in puppies and therefore it's often given routinely to new pups as part of a de-worming and mite treatment.

Hey bendyfoot,
Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind and ask the vet. Maybe the lady from the adopting place got her info crossed and said lice when she meant mites or something. |

Although Revolution is not labelled as "lice treatment" it is recommended by many vets as an off label solution for lice.
I have found Zodiak to be effective for this as well, and it is also "off label" Apparently because the lice have a softer shell than fleas, if it kills fleas it will kill lice. Just what I have heard (and experienced) Good luck |
