Grand Canyon shot

Although no photograph, movie, poem or cave drawing can EVER give you the feeling of the magic that is the Canyon....Still we mortals try.

Here is one of many shots that we took. It's scaled down in resolution for the web, but it may suggest just how large and vast the canyon is.

You should get your Microsoft Flight Simulator out, key in the Czech stunt plane and buzz through that Canyon a few feet off the river . . . . . lotta fun.

Great shot . . . . . subtle changes in the shades of light.

I've always wanted to see the canyon...but I'm getting vertigo just looking at that shot, Marko! I suspect I'd drop my camera as I was reeling on the edge!

So I guess I'll just have to enjoy it vicariously through your camera. That's a beautiful vista! I love all the colors.

Thanks for the compliments everyone

I should say that that picture PALES 1000 times in comparison to the real thing. The whole vista engulfs you from every angle. It completely fills your peripheral vision. You know how some people cry at weddings and some people even cry when they see great art, or hear a great song or read a touching story.... I must say that I almost went weepy at the site of the canyon.

(Course I sucked it back to appear macho - but I came darn close)

I should also fess up one more time and say that I worked on that image for about 20 minutes to get it to look somewhat like it looked in reality. Both film and digital camera sensors CANNOT reproduce scenes of great contrast with ease. Our eyes see it all but we have to work hard to get it like we saw it.

Thanks again!

Marko
