What exactly do I need to know to raise one?

Lots, Proper cage, heat, light ( uva/uvb lights are expensive and need to be changed before they burn out) food and a good local vet that specializes in herps. I have "the complete idiots guide to reptiles and amphibians" lots of "reptile usa" mags, books on my type of lizard and a vet not to far. I think I read somewhere that Chams are not the best for beginners. Beardies are a good starter. I'll help all I can. Let me know what type you are looking at and I can check it out in my sources. Check your local library for books too.

Thank you so much for your response. We havent' bought one yet... but there's a reptile expo this weekend. We were going to go talk to breeders and decide from there. It'll be for my son ( which means he calls it his and I care for it! ) I will be sure to PM you with any specific questions I think of!
