Thanks for all your support.. Sable has been sighted for the past week in
the same area...1/2 mile radius in Oro Station. He was seen on Wed.
with a deer carcass that had been hit and he dragged it onto a front lawn.
He was then seen a couple of hours after that as well.
We spent all day from Orillia to Barrie on Ridge Road and the rail trail
and no sign....we just got back to Oshawa and the phone rang...the lady who
called about the deer carcass had just seen him run thru her yard and her
husband said he saw him last Sat. night around the same time. So he is
in that area for sure and we will go back up again tomorrow. I have left
scent and food so here's hoping. I will also call the SPCA on Monday or
perhaps will go there tomorrow and see if they will set a live trap as they
promised if he stayed in one place for more that a couple of days.
I hope if we can see him and just let our other dog go, she will bring him
back.

Yes we are always so close but I think this time is a charm!
I just had another call from the gal who called earlier and she has
been tracking him for the past hour. She got close enough to him
that she saw a "green collar" on him. So he must have trusted someone
in the past few months to have on a collar. He has also been showing
himself a lot too which means he is trusting a little.
Will keep you posted.

Shirley,I saw a Sable in the Canadian Pets &Animals magazine,at the Orillia HS,my heart went for a leap, but then I saw it was a female..
However on the other page there was your ad for your Sable as a missing dog, also for Daisy the Bulldog, but you must know that...since you put the ad in All the luck in the world to both you and Daisys owner

IT WASN'T HIM! We tracked this dog for six hours today...it is a dog
that does look like Sable but a little lighter in colour and belongs to
a local man. this poor dog has been missing for almost a year and was
right across the street from the owner and they just don't care!

I have given my all to find Sable and these people just don't care what
has happened to this poor dog. I am so sad for the dog!

So Sable is still missing a we haven't a clue where to begin the search now
and we are still getting calls on this dog with the green collar.

It would be very easy to give up right now but we are trying to stay
positive and keep up the search.

Did the dog that wasn't Sable get back to his owner?
Sorry it wasn't your dog. Agonizing.

No the Green Collar dog did not get back to its owner! The owner says
he can't catch him but was making no attempt to either. He has been
right in their front yard almost for a week. They say they don't want him
because he will only run again. I called the Orillia SPCA who said that if
someone catches him they will go and pick him up but they will not
actively look for him. Grrrrrr. I am so dang mad that poor dog doesn't stand
a chance with not even the SPCA trying to help him.

Of course we are heart-broken it wasn't Sable and don't know where to turn
now. I really am fearing the worst...other than the calls about this "green
collar" dog we haven't had anything for a month now.

Awww Shirley,I was sooo hoping it would be Sable, but no:sad:
What do you do now??
I think all you can do at this point,is wait for the all important phone-call once again and just hope..
I can imagine the worst to be not knowing,if you knew he had gone to the Bridge, you could say your good-byes and mourn, but all this must be tearing you apart:sad:
That poor green-collard dog with that jerk of an owner, would make me soo angry, some people just do not deserve the love and devotion of an animal.
We will still hope for you and Sable and wherever he is he will somehow find you and you him,we would have a virtual party here at Pets.ca!

Oh no....what disappointing news. I am so sorry this wasn't Sable. Hopefully you will have better luck with the warmer weather here now.

Very sad about the green collar dog. What a ***** of an owner. Can anyone get close enough to catch him?

Thanks again for your support...and we will have a virtual party, I will bring the ::wine. We did get another call tonight in the area we were looking prior to the weekend marathon. It sounded very promising and this lady actually had him barking at her dog. She said he has such a deep bark....Sable has a very deep loud bark...like nothing I have heard before so.....who knows. I
will go up again in the next day ..prob. tomorrow and show her some pictures and go from there.
I am p....ssed right off with the SPCA in Orillia...they won't do anything to help rescue that poor dog with the green collar... I felt that the effort would be worth all the heartache if he was rescued but unless someone catches him they won't do anything. they could at least put out a live trap but they won't! A lady up there where the deer carcass was is going to keep putting food out and she is determined to win his trust. She is just a wonderful caring person and I am sure if anyone can do it she can. She says she probably can find him a home once she socializes him as well.

So all is not lost...we still have hope

Still nothing on Sable....just a few calls that didn't go anywhere.

I had another communicator reading...the one that gave us right on
locations back in the late fall.

I need some help ...

This is the second reading and she is getting the same information so
believes he is staying with this person....

Collie Dog there/ a horse/ two old grey barns / front porch with a round
back wood chair but

TENTS!!! About ten of them... green nylon

she believes the man there is a guide of some sort.

This is the Orillia/Barrie/Coldwater/Washago area.

Can anyone think of what type of guide would need tents on a farm??

I have been thinking some kind of organized turkey shoot...but am coming up
empty on leads for that.

We drove around all weekend on the back roads and came up with ZIP!

Can anyone help with suggestions of what it might be.

Thanks

Shirley, wish I could help,I am not familiar with anything regarding hunting, maybe it is some sort of research group?
Did you see it yourself??
I believe it's very possible someone at one point took Sable in,someone in the country, but with all the posters etc...how could they miss reading about him.?

The two don't have to be connected. Maybe he rents out part of his land for...military exercises? hunting parties, paintball? Is there a military base around there? A farm that is no longer a farm, looking for ways to make money?
Intriguing that she came up with the same picture, that's good isn't it?
When you find her, PLEASE start a new thread, the suspense is killing me!

I did start a new thread on this one...this one is getting pretty long!
I think your military thing might be worth looking into...Camp Borden is
just south of Barrie.

I am not coming up with much that matches but at least with the description
being the same for the past two times, he is with someone which is the
important thing.

Thanks for any suggestions of what the location of these Green tents might be.

I was thinking of CFB Borden

When you mentioned the green tents, my first thought was CFB Borden doing some small training for one of their courses. You may want to check with what used to be called Non-public funds may be called PSP now and see if you can put a flyer up at the military store on the base as it is a gathering place for military personnel, both those living on base and off. The store is called Canex. You never know, one of the instructors may have seen your dog during manouvers. The guide could be the instructor. The base operators number is 705-424-1200.

The military used to rent farmer fields for exercises in the past, not sure if they still do.

Hope you find Sable soon .
