Howls at night

Hi again this post is about Fanny and howls. She howls at night from inside when she hears police or sirens. How can I get her to stop? THANK-YOU ALL!

As soon as you hear the police or sirens tell your dog 'quiet it' or 'leave it 'or whatever command you use , I was told by a dog trainer you want to keep your dog from even start barking . Once the dog start it's hard to stop them and when your dog does follow your command tell her "good dog or " good quiet" I had a dog that bark whenever anyone came into the building and I had to him 'leave it' before he open his mouth , he would be dying to bark and if tried to I told him 'leave it ' again .
Someone else may some other suggestion for you too.

As it's hard to always be at the ready when a siren goes by how about setting up some training time at your convenience?
Perhaps make a loud recording of the offending noise, play it and either use distractions or your words ("quiet") before the unwanted behaviour starts. Do this exercise regularly (10-15 min sessions) until you accomplish your mission.
