Litter box problem...
Kitty goes in the box like she's suppose to, she doesnt make an extreme mess, she's not having any trouble actually going.... she just doesnt cover her "business" anymore. This is a fairly recent habit Kitty has picked up and I have brainstormed all I could, but I cant figure out what could have triggered it. She just poops or pees, and gets out of the litter box and that's it. She doesnt cover it with the litter, like she used to. So even though her poops/pees don't smell particularly bad, you just know when she's just gone, if you know what I mean. No cover of litter = very strong icky smell lol.
Is there a reason she would suddenly stop covering her waste like that? Is there anything I can do to encourage her to do so? |

One of my guys doen't cover either, and yes it stinks!!
I don't know why mine started it,but it could have been that I didin't clean the litter box fast enough (doing it for 18 years, there are bound to be lazy days ) so maybe with the other "stuff" in there he just didn't want to dig in the "crap" so stopped doing it. (can't say I blame him )

My male doesn't cover his, my female tries to dig to China lol. They have two litter boxes and it doesn't matter if they are clean or something in it, he just will not bury his business.

Vlad has covered him since I brought him home, and now he's taken to playingin the litter. He'll dig and try to get some litter on his paws and tries to taste it. When I do see it I immediately grab him and get him out.
Oksana also has used the litter box since I brought her home, but I had to show her how to cover her stuff up. I'm thinking of toilet training them. Once Oksana gets a little bigger, I'm hoping to get both to use the potty. |

My male Bomber doesn't cover either! He is so funny..he cannot leave the litter box unless he has banged his paws on the side a hundred times before he can exit! My female Tabitha is a clean girl and always covers hers!

When I had a cat she would not just cover her mess but make sure that every grain of litter was covering it. Spent ten minutes or more making a huge hill.

Some cats don't cover their poop for dominance reasons, especially if there's more than one cat. It could also be a "I don't have anything to hide from here, so why bother" kinda thing. And then there are the cats that just want to get out of the litter box as fast as they can! (Cleanliness issues).
