Lex Has Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
Hello!! Good morning
Yesterday morning I noticed that Lex's left eye had some discharge. I cleaned it up and figured maybe it was because of his shower of the night before. Weird though cause i've used that same shampoo often on him and it says it is tearless and perfect even for puppies. Came home last evening and I could tell that is eye was definitly . So I went to the vet and she says it is conjunctivitis but no ulcer so I have medication Maxitrol (or something like that) that contains some cortisone. I put some in his eye last night. I have to use it for 10 days. This morning, his left eye is somewhat normal but the RIGHT one looks !! I put a drop in both Is that something normal, I mean to get conjunctivitis in BOTH eyes?? Thank you for any advices or experiences, Maxine |

since it's VERY contagious, my guess would be yes, it's probably normal. I would use the medication in the one infected eye, and use a warm compress to clean them both. be sure to wash the cloth well, or use paper towels to throw out.
My dog had it when he was a pup, I did a warm compress OFTEN throughout the day - keeping it as clean as I could, and used an opthalmic ointment, and it cleared up in a few days. |

I used to get "pink eye" as a child. Always treat both eyes, it will spread quickly, and always wash your hands after you touch his face. You might want to keep him out of direct sunlight, as many times my eyes would become very light-sensitive while under treatment.

you could also do a warm milk "bathing" of the eye, we used this at my grams kennel for new born poms, dip a piece of bread in warm milk and wash the eye with that. Poor lex, hope he feels better soon

Would have been cheaper using polysporin eye drops, lol
Kayla is very prone to Pink eye, and her Dr always says the same thing, polysporin eye drops. Keep it clean, do not use the same thing 2 times, will spread or get worse. I use a wet paper towel, then throw away. |
