Sable is so lost! Can anyone help?

We have had about 8 calls on Sable in the past couple of days and all
from the same area of Orillia and just west of...the latest sighting today
April 1st at 1:30 a.m. People are just so concerned and have been watching Sable's quest to find home and it is just heartwarming to know that there are such good people out there.
We went out yesterday and spent the whole day looking but not near where this latest call has come in.
So many kind folks are looking and we are getting good leads so I hope we find him soon.

HI Shirley! Not the greatest of news but promising! More sightings means people are paying attention and as well that he is still in the area! It is also promising that he made it through a winter which probably was rough! Keep strong! I know it must be tough since you are a good distance away! Sable come home!

No, I just got back from Orillia and spent the day looking for Sable. He was seen again on Wed. night having a drink at Bass Lake. He was seen twice on Monday by a school bus driver in the Warminster area but that is all for now.A man who has been helping with my search...just a helpful soul, said he thinks he may have found a farm near Warminster that he thinks he is staying and we are going to go and check it out tomorrow again.

No, I have gone up and searched for three days now and still no sign of
him. The last call we had was Wed.night but I'm not sure it was him.
I Went to the farm that he was thought to be at, but no one was home and
there were no large dog prints in the snow, so I am no closer to finding him.
This is where it gets so discouraging....I am exhausted from all the driving and looking....but I know when I get the next call I will get my strength and hope back to go again.

Awww, Shirley, so sorry to hear the people weren't home. Maybe a neighbour could give you a name/phone number so you could call them. It must get so frustrating and my heart goes out to you.

Any new leads? I was so hoping that you would be reunited with Sabel by now.. hope you find him very soon..I wish I lived closer to the area he went missing.I'd love to help you out in your search for Sabel..

I am so sorry your doggie is lost! My doggie is also named Sable, and my dad has a czech shepherd that looks exactly like your Sable!

If he is sighted around the same area for a few days, you could see if any animal control agencies could set a large have-a-hart trap, the kind used for coyotes. It's just a big cage baited with food and when they walk in to get the food, the door shuts and traps them in. It's sometimes the only way we can catch stray dogs especially if they are too frightened to approach people.

Hopefully he will be reunited with you soon!!!!!

Just an update to let you all know that Sable is still being seen in the
area west of Orillia in a little town called Warminster. He was seen
yesterday by an elderly man sitting on his front steps...he was going up
to the man and he held out his hand to pet him and he bolted. He was
seen on Saturday in another person's backyard sleeping and again that evening near the school in Marchmont. I have been there so many days
and never get a call. Saturday I got a call about him sleeping in someone's backyard and it was the only Saturday in the past six weeks that I have not been in Orillia waiting for that very call and of course by the time I got there he was gone. WE have had so many sightings over the past two weeks that I feel like we are getting really close to getting him back. He is letting too many people see him. Everyone is now at least trying to catch him but he is really scared. Will keep you up to date but I we will get him home real soon.

I just came across this thread and have read every posting. Shirley I am so sorry you and your son are going through this. I hope you are reunited with Sable very soon. It sounds like Sable is a survivor and I feel certain you will find him soon.

Shirley,although it's certainly encouraging and great news Sable is beeing seen
I wish he could be trapped in a humane trap,he must be constantly looking for food.
Since he is sticking to the same area,something must be keeping him there
I can feel in my bones he will soon be caught,especially with people spending more time outside

If he is being sighted around the same property, The OSPCA would loan you a humane trap. It might work.

Yup, a trap is your best bet at this point. That or if someone was able to lure him into a fenced in yard with food.

Ohh I really hope you get him. What a journey he is on...Have you seen Homeward Bound?..Sable completley out beats both those dogs and the little cat!!

You put so much effort into this, you really keep me not giving up on SPencer.

WE had a call tonight that Sable is on his way thru Orillia again headed
north to Coldwater so at least we have a direction to go and canvas
again. I wish he would just sit at the side of the road...someone would
find him and bring him home! With all the canvassing we have done, there
are just so many wonderful folks on the lookout for him and he seems to
be wanting to be see as well. I have put a lot of scent and fur from our
other dog at places where he has been in the past couple of weeks so
hoping he slows down long enough to "smell the roses" at one of these
spots where the folks are looking for him.
