Evangers food

I finally remembered the name of the company in Rachel Ray's special on pet food. Has anyone ever tried this brand for their pet?

I noticed the same shop I got the EVO for the gang had this brand and it looks like a good high quality food. There's a whole chicken and fish that are cooked in the can with the bone so that the bones are digestible.

So is there anyone here who has used this?

I bought the Evanger's Organic Braised Chicken a few times, and Aztec does like it, but it has rice in it so I don't feed it too often. I'd love to try (well, not me personally) the Organic Turkey and Butternut Squash if my local store ever carries it. Not sure which one has the whole chicken with bones it (how would it fit in the can? ).

LOL, sorry, I meant just chicken with bones. They pack it in the can as is, and they say the heat of the steam softens the bones so that it is easily digestible. I'm guessing it's okay if they've been doing it like that for years and are still doing it. I'm thinking if they'd had a problem with it they would have discontinued doing it.

We have fed both the Organic Turkey and Butternut Squash Dinner and Whole Mackerel with Gravy to our cats. With our cats, we alternated between Turkey/Squash and Evo 95% Turkey .. the Evo won out as far as preference goes but we still try to feed it for variation. They did dive right into the Whole Mackerel .. be prepared though, we opened a can for the first time - first thing in the morning before you have had that first cup or two of coffee. Inside the can were two whole fish looking up at us. It sure woke us up in a hurry .. The cats loved it though.

I should add also that the whole chicken thigh is the only - and I mean only dog food our Shi-tzu Cleo will eat. She thinks she is at least part cat.

They did say in that Rachel Ray program I saw the bones are heated to a point where eating them is no problem.

I'm guessing yours didn't have an issue with fish bones.

No problems in any way .. the bones in the chicken thigh canned food are soft to the touch .. and when she did leave a bone in the bowl, it was eaten shortly after. No issues with the fish either. I think they had those cleaned up within about 10min of putting the bowl out.

Thank you for the information. That was my main concern when I saw the short excerpt on the show. I'd love to be able to give them that for a treat. I'm going to get them a few cans and see how they like it.
