Dried Shrimp for cats?

Is there a limit I should give my cats?

I saw these at the pet store, basically only whole dried baby shrimp. cats LOVE them, but I don't want to overdo it...any thoughts?

I was thinking of going to an asian store and just buy them shrimp from there, it would probaby be cheaper than the petstore

I think the ones at the asian store are preserved with salt and/or other additives...

I get the freeze dried shrimp for my koi and my aquarium fish. If you go some place like Big Al's, you can get a fairly large can of them (not cheap, $29.00). Yes the cats love them. I see no harm in them myself. I wouldn't give them to the cats as a steady diet, but a few as a daily treat, I see no reason why not.

masha, u think so? hmm Ill have to check it out..it would be hard to use in cooking if it was presevred in salt

lol..me too HRP....i dunno why all the shrimp u buy here at the grocery stores have their heads cut off??? In egypt we make a very yummy dish with shrimp...but u need the heads attached cuz they flavour the stew/sauce....why throw away so much flavour dont get it. I have to say i dont really like north american style of cooking seafood...too bland ..then again my uncle comes here and about dies over lobster/oysters and all...not too egyptian

I guess it depends on where and which kind you are getting... the ones i have seen were preserved with something, dont remember what though.... It should say on the package though... unless you are buying in bulk, then i guess u never really know what you are getting...

Big Al's Aquarium Services stores. I'm not sure if they have one in Kitchener or not. They do have a web site and would list their store locations there. Any other pond store should carry the freeze dried shrimp as well.
Walmart has had the shrimp too, smaller than the ones at the aquarium stores, but smell just as bad.
