Cat food

I have asked this question on this forum before, and I apologize for being so persistent on this....

We looked at various wet foods for our two kittens. I finally liked Nutro Natural Choice . The problem is ,it is 50c per 3 oz pouch. If I feed a couple to each kitten daily, I am spending $60 per month, separate from the Royal Canin dry food we already give them. I need a good premium wet food that is affordable. Most stores just recommend the brands they carry, so I do not trust them. Even my vet stocks Science Hill diet and gives free pouches to all patients. So I am not sure if I would switch to it, just because he said so. To make matters worse, I ran into this website today

It talks about how many pet food companies torture animals often until they die, for their food testing. Now I am in a bind. I want to feed my kitties good food, but not at the expense of many other cats dying for that ...

Also I saw another website talking about food that can be made for cats at home with good ingredients. Is that recommended? Should I even consider buying different kind of meats, and make food from them? Is there a good place where I can find such recipes?

Is there a reliable source that rates each cat food product? Which ones are the Mercedes and BMWs and which ones are the Kias and Hyundais?? Thx ...

Hey I feed RAW and my dogs love it!! If you going to be spending $60 a month you might as well know whats going into their food. I don't know about cats, but Carina might know whats a good diet for them.

Cat-food hm.....I've had cats my whole life,some who lived to be 19yrs old..
IAMS is not recommended after hearing about their practises
Anyway,my current three cats,eat Nutro Natural Choice dry and Nutrience dry,I've tried all kinds of"good"canned food,but the only thing they eat is "Fancy Feast"not the best,I know ....
They get a third of a small can morning and night.They do not eat chunky food,other than a piece of tuna ever now and then.
Other than minor problems my cats have always stayed healthy until ripe-old-age problems,that hits us all

I've no idea about practices, but I recently switched my 18 year old cat from a store brand to tinned TechniCal Kitten food (a vet recommended I feed him kitten food because he's diabetic). TechniCal is a division of H.J. Heinz.

It's more expensive than the store brand, but it's worth it. With the other brand he was having a lot of trouble with tummy upset (runny stools daily, occasional vomiting). I was mixing the two together for a week or so to make the change gradual and he continued to have problems, but beginning the first day that Tuki was eating only TechniCal Kitten, he's had none of the tummy problems.

I personally feed my cats Performatrin. Cans are $1.29 and dry is $30 for an 8 kg bag. I have 3 cats, 1 male and 2 females and I would go through 1 to 2 cans a day when Dixie and Dakota were kittens. The 8 kg bag lasts me a month for 3 adult cats.They have food 24/7 , 2 different feeding stations, which some people might not agree with but my cats are extremely healthy
