Food for kidney troubles?
Hi!
My mom's dog has slight kidney trouble (insufficiency they called it), and the vet put him on Medical wet and dry. The wet isn't so bad, but the dry is full of corn, brewer's rice and dried beet pulp. Any suggestions for a better food for a dog with kidney problems? Low phosphorus is what we should aim for, isn't it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Check out Timber Wolf Organics a friend uses there Serengetti Line for cats. Her cat was on prescripton food for a stomach problem she is now using this. She actually emailed them and they gave her there recommendation she tried it and it worked great and her cat loves it. I am not a foodie but there are some of our members who are very food saavy and will probably be able to put you in the right direction.

Explanations and several diet samples/menus for dogs suffering kidney disease (incl. other diseases) are provided in this book titled Optimal Nutrition by Monica Segal. http://www.monicasegal.com/catalog/p...roducts_id=101
She will be at a seminar I'm attending this weekend so I'll do my best to ask her for some extra references for you, Bluedrake. What breed is your mother's dog btw?
