flovent possible side effect?? heavy panting, trembling

amost 3 hours after giving Mitsy her meds (all new except vetmedin) she started panting heavily, heart rate rose up to 180 and she was trembling (like chihuahua do). She eventually settled down and slept. I phone vet and was told the flovent can have that as a side effect.
Anyone has that experience?

Hi boubou,

First off welcome to the forum!

To better answer your question it would be good to know
- what other meds you dog is taking
- How old is the dog and what is its breed.

That said, Flovent is an inhaled steroid used in humans and it takes a couple of weeks until it gets in the system before it works well. During that first 2 weeks it can actually makes breathing a bit more difficult for a short time after giving it. If the parallel is the same between humans and dogs This might be what is going on as the vet suggests.

You could ask your vet to give you a copy of side effects of the meds the next time . I personally think vets should just do this anyway so people will not want to look for when their pet is on a drug. I tried to find flovent sides effects on dogs on line and could not find anything , it was only for people.
