spay incision ??

i foster for a animal rescue and my foster dog got spayed on the 15th of march

now it seems to be healing fine...most of it.

the top part closest to her chest is pink and there is a lump. Im told it may be an internal stitch and the lump is just scar tissue...but she hasnt been back to a vet to confirm...

i have a few pictures (the more red on is not accurate its more pink than red)

the one with my fingers shows the size of the lump...im just not sure and a vet visit is not going to be done unless absolutely necessary so im loking for other opinions!

thanks!

Welcome, I have no opinion on whether this may be an infection or not but you can put some ointment on it, such as polysporin, or even some coconut oil. You will need to put an EC on her so she does not lick it off. Care to share pictures of her face????

To me, it looks like its healing up wonderfully Yes, the lump you feel is most likely scar material, as it is exactly where I would expect it to be.

To be safe, keep an eye on her to make sure she continues eating and drinking. If there are changes with those or she is throwing up or gets diarrhea then I would take her to a vet to have her checked out.

clk666, it looks pretty normal to me. My dog had a bit of a lump like that when she got spayed not too long ago. It lasted quite some time, so I got a bit worried and brought her to the vet, but they said it was nothing to worry about. Eventually it went away. We didn't get charged for the little check-up because it's apparently part of the cost of the spay. They allow you to come back with questions or for a quick check. So maybe you could ask your vet if they have the same policy? It might put your mind at ease.

She's gorgeous! The other little guy in the picture looks adorable, too. The world is a better place to have people like you in it.
