Vicious behaviour
My cat is 14 and for the last year she has been getting very vicious. I will be sitting at the dining room table and she will attack my legs, leaving scrapes and bite marks. If I reach down to pat her she scratches me. If my arm is outside of the covers in bed she will bite or scratch my arm. I'm getting fed up with being covered with scratch marks. It is not sudden so I don't think she is sick. I have tried yelling EEK! Making a loud noise, throwing a toy (if there is one close by) but nothing seems to stop it permanently.
Any suggestions? |

I'd still rule out anything medical at this point. If it's been going on for a year.. it could potentially mean your cat hasn't been feeling 100% for that long

Your cat is 'old' and could have dementia or have arthritis and it hurt to be touch . It would be a good idea to have the vet check your cat and rule out any medical issues. |

e have another thread going on where a young cat is doing some similar, maybe not quite so bad, things. SugarcatMom asked how much play the cat gets? How much do you play with your cat?
It's this thread, some things in it may help you: http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=85676 I agree that new behaviour needs vetting to rule out a medical condition that might be contributing. Good luck. |
