Female German Shepherds

I was lookin at the pic of the gsd that had surgery today[very cute] and was thinking when ihad damien[how alpha he was],not sure how to word this...My question is what are female gsd's like???? Can they be just as alpha as males???Or try to be??

never had a male, but my girl GSD is a dominating little bitch . i really have to keep on top of her as she is always trying to push the point and get to the top of the pack(but i am a stern owner at times and she never tries to get on top of me and i would not allow it). it is a constant job, and she is always pushing and i am always curbing her behaviour (more so when she was younger). due to her size i keep her in line and she doesnt get far but she does try especially with the children or visiting adults (which is potentially very dangerous so such behaviour needs to be kept on top of) and she is always trying to be top dog in packs of dogs we visit with, sometimes she is but it depends on the ages fo the dogs. but yes GSD girls can be right cows, oh and they are very protective of female owners, and this in itself can be a huge problem as it can lead to dominating behaviour as well. oh little buggers i tell you some days she just kills me.

Thanks,i would of never thought that about females...So you would say females can be worse when it comes to that??

as a female my self, i think definatly. i think there is a certain bond formed when creature of the same sex get together, but this can also work against you simply becasue of the protectiveness of female GSD and that extreme attachment. i have to be really tough on her when the kids are around, she loves me to bits understand, so she gets very jealous of the kids and trys to dominate them. i think jealousy can be a problem for these girls also, but that is just my experience, but sadly mona is not around these days as she is very knowledgable about the breed and boys as well. but i have to admit charlie is a try hard alpha, try hard meaning at times she does. for eg- if she is trying to get ahead, she might say hop on the bed uninvited (big nono) she knows that it is wrong but will always test the waters to see if im onto her, or she will take something that is not hers and wait for me to find her, if she gets away with it is like a point on her chart as far as she is concerned and will try somethng more daring next time. give her an inch and she will try to take a mile. but sadly she is not lucky and doesnt get away with much, i just dont take crap , if with any one else they probably would have had enough and dragged her out back and bloody shot her by now .
but i do loves her to pieces dont get me wrong, she is my angel, she is just a very big character is all, oh soooo very big

Yeah i had a male,wow,he was bad,[jealous,aggresive and not scared of anything]that is an old story though,so i was curious about females,thanks for that,are there pics here of her??
