My vet's final verdict on milk.

It's ok as long as the cat isn't lactose intolerant, and since mine has been drinking milk with no problems until now he says it's perfectly fine for her to keep drinking milk all her life if she wants to.
In fact, he says milk is good for her health and it's a good thing she can take it without any problem, and in case she does have problems sometimes he said it was no big deal and we should just stop giving her milk, but that's not likely to happen.

The reason I posted this was cause we talked whether it's ok or not to give them milk in that other topic, so I thought I'd let you guys know.

The lactose intolerance is pretty general in most cats, however it all depends on the individual cat. One of mine - Mischief was a milk lover & had it all her life, never affected by intolerance whereas Bandit was intolerant after weaning as a kitten & couldn't have any as an adult.

When I was a little girl, our cats always drank milk with no ill effect and since there was no commercial cat-food,they ate whatever we had.
My mom used to get fish-heads for free, boil them and feed the cats
Times have certainly changed(mind you,it's several decades)

I'd love to be able to give mine milk. I know for sure Vlad can't drink it, but I'm too wary of trying to give it to the other three, especially since Oksana and Maks seem to be the ones with sensitive stomach's

My Windy and Smoke have always had the milk from the bottom of my cereal bowl since they were kittens (only when I have a plain cereal with no sugar or flavouring of course), and prob. always will, the others seem to have no interest in milk... now yogurt and cottage cheese are a different story, I have to eat those with my elbows up!!

The fattier the milk the better; apparently whole milk and cream contain far less of the protein which triggers the intolerance.

Oh see, I usually drink skim or lowfat milk.

Perhaps I can buy a small carton and experiment. I know Vlad always tries to drink my milk because he does enjoy the taste, but I have to take it from him.
