Pitbul puppy bit off boys foot?
I heard on the news last night that a 4 month old pit puppy bit off the foot of a 5 year old boy with Spina Bifada (sp). Because of the Spina Bifada the boy has no feeling in his foot and didn't cry. The mom is being charged with something. I can't find the article anywhere. Did anyone else hear this story?

I didn't hear that one.. The last one I heard was the pitty who ate off a baby's toes while the baby's parents slept a few feet away.

Here is the article and yes, it is so sad!!!!
http://news.channels.netscape.ca/new...03195709990002 Pit Bull Mauls Boy's Foot; Mom Charged TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - The mother of a 4-year-old boy whose foot was mauled by the family's pit bull puppy was charged with child endangering, authorities said Saturday. Martina Jennings, 23, took her son to a hospital Friday because his foot was bleeding and told authorities she saw blood on the dog's face and chest, Lucas County Dog Warden Tom Skeldon said. The foot was amputated. The boy has no feeling below the waist because of spina bifida, so he did not know the dog was biting him, Skeldon said. Spina bifida is a defect that occurs when the backbone and spinal cord do not close before birth. The black-and-white puppy was destroyed. Skeldon said he questioned the puppy's ability to cause so much damage because its teeth weren't mature. Jennings was being held in the Lucas County jail on the felony charge. The phone rang unanswered at Jennings' home Saturday; it was unclear if she had retained an attorney. 02/03/07 19:56 EST There is another one here: http://www.wtol.com/Global/story.asp?S=6031096

I would wonder if this child had any other problems that would have him do it to himself. If the pup were around he may have licked the area. This makes more sense than a puppy chewing off a childs foot.

Pitbul
I saw a picture of the puppy on the news. His chest and paws were stained with what looked like blood. What bothers me is why are these puppies eating children's feet? This is not normal behavior. ARe they being fed?

I suspect the details of this particular case will get even weirder...and will have far more to do with child neglect than anything to do with the dog. The destruction of the puppy was the knee-jerk reaction.

This is insane a four month old puppy and a 5 yr old handicapped child left unattended? Her lack of ability to protect both her child and pup is the only thing that should be investigated. Someone failed this child but it certainly wasn't this lil pup. My heart goes out to this poor child

I know it's not the current story, but rather the older case Prin was referencing.
I think it relates as both seem to have some pretty weird details and highlights the tragic problems that can occur when children and dogs are not supervised. |

Yeah definitely the same things going on in both.
Horrible things resulting from bad parenting, imo
