Ours were out and about, albeit a tad muddy, this morning when I was out filling the feeders. I can't believe, as wet as it is, that the tunnels aren't flooded!!! But they were mostly dry. And friendly as ever.

What is the best way to attract them and feed them Chico? Or is feeding them not generally recommended? I've seen none in The Hammer yet. Unfortunately, there isn't even a 1/4 of the green space here that there is in Toronto and with all the feral cats in my nabe and sooooo many black squirrels they likely have no safe habitats.

A little box like yours with unshelled peanuts is best ?

chico, they are so cute. No chippies here yet.

I've read that chippies are solitary animals, I forget how much are they need but it's not too much. And yep, u could be seeing little babies soon. And those are soooooooooo adorable!

Oreo cookies,eh,I'll try that
The box we have are for the Squirrels, but somehow these little guys dicovered it too.
I saw a tiny one this morning, maybe a baby already??
Seeing I have three bird-feeders,suet,corn and peanuts,we get a nice variety of critters, but this is only the second year I see these cuties.

Hazel, are you saying they dig tunnels??

While i love the pictures, I have to add my two cents on refraining from feeding wildlife garbage, like oero cookies. While people should refrain from feeding wildlife (can end up leading them to become dependent on humans for food and stray from being able to defend for themselves.

If you want to feed, please feed them food that is specific to their diet and that is going to benefit them nutritally.

sorry off my soapbox lol

I was told that by the rescue we both know Noah, its very hard to get wildlife to take meds for mange. it was suggested I give them oreo's, they don't taste the meds and they finish it all up

A friend used to feed magpies here, a few in the neighborhood did, and then they started seeing deformities in the legs on baby birds. So, while I agree with NoahGrey, feed them only what's natural, I can still see the point in giving them something they love just to get med's into them. What is their normal diet though? And what are Oreos? I assume they're a chocolate biscuit, or is that wrong? They are sold here now but I haven't ever tried one.
Sad to think of them covered in mange, they're such little cuties . You make very good use of that camera, chico2.

GF,Chip-Munks eat a lot of different things, even baby-mice,birdseggs,worms(read on Google) etc..but here they eat sun-flowerseeds,peanuts,corn and suet.

We don't like Oreo-Cookies so we will not buy any,but I can see Melindas point,if you work with wild-life and need to get them to take meds.
I think if you want them to come up to you,a peanut would probably be enough.

We were just watching one of the Chippies digging like crazy, soil flying all around him

We dont see many chippies here All the barn cats in the area keep them... away.
We do have the odd black squirrel around though which I find just magnificant.

I have always loved chippies, and they are so easy to tame, Chico in no time you can have those cuties sitting right up on you eating.
