We live about 20 minutes from there. If you want to ask I can try to answer and if I can't I have friends that I can ask for you or get you someone to contact in the area.

First I need a vet recommendation to start. Second, are there seriously no no kill rescues there? Just the SPCA? Good places for hikes with the doggies? Anything else you can think of that I might need to know abou life there with pets? I know I'll need to get them hearworm meds we don't have that in AB, but my vet says you guys do there.

There is a good vet in my town so I haven't had to use any vets in the Moncton area so I asked my friends whom they liked. They liked Dr. Vessey at the Maritime Animal Hospital as well as a couple of new clinics that have opened up in Riverview (about a 10-15 minute drive across the winter with some specialist).

I do not think there is anything more than the SPCA in our area but contacting the SPCA in Moncton might give you more info on this.

There is a lot of parks with trails in Moncton, Mapleton Park, Centinel Park (this also has a dog park attached to it if you go to those), Fundy National Park is only about a 1/2 hour drive away and they have lots of trails. There are many smaller parks that you can check out once you get here, over all I think they tend to be dog friendly as long as the dogs are on-leash unless it is an allowed area for off-leash.

Heartworm isn't a huge problem in our area as it doesn't often get warm enough for that or the ticks carrying lyme. That being said each year is different and sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry. We do have fleas here which I have been told Calgary doesn't have so you will need a flea medication for sure.

Are you into showing/working your dog?

Not into showing or working them. All 5 are companion animals. My intention is to teach positive reinforcement training and have kennel free boarding at my acreage (when I buy it lol). I am a certified trainer and have been working with rescues in my area for 10 years so I was just wondering if there were any there that would be in need of some help. Maybe I'll start one of those down the road too.

We are so excited to be moving there! As soon as the house sells here in Calgary we are on a plane for Moncton to find jobs and buy an acreage. Fundy National Park looks amazing. We're big hikers here too being so close to the mountains and are very much lookin forward to that. I can't wait to try magnetic hill too. Everyone says it'll mess with your head.

LOL! There are lots for sale that the moment but if you are looking for acreage look just outside of Moncton as I think Moncton/Dieppe area have some expensive property taxes and make sure to check into the dog ordinance for the area as I know there was some new ones just put in place. There are some small communities just outside of Moncton that aren't more then a 10-15 minute drive that will greatly decrease your taxes but will also allow you to get your acreage for your kennel. MLS is a great site to look at for housing to see what is available in the area.

It is a great city and has one of the best growth rates in Canada. Brush up on your french if you have any as we are considered a bi-lingual province Mine isn't great but the boyfriend is my translator lol.

There aren't mountains like you are used to but there are some great trails. Magnetic Hill, how could I forget about that lol! It is fun to go and see.
