Another real winner.. Just for Techno

So.. on another forum I was complaining about the Solid Gold change.. and someone suggests to me http://www.natureslogic.com/ I look at the site.. And it's got the most unique nasty ingredients I've seen in a while.. I love how it's apparently 'all natural ingredients' to make it sound great..

Dry chicken:
Quote:
Chicken Meal, Millet, Chicken Fat, Montmorillonite, Brewer’s Yeast, Flaxseed, Dried Egg Product, Spray Dried Chicken Liver, Pumpkin Seed, Animal Plasma, Kelp, Natural Flavor, Cottage Cheese, Suncured Alfalfa Meal, Egg Shell, Avocado, Chicory Root, Tomato Powder, Almonds, Spray Dried Cod Liver Oil, Apple Powder, Blueberry, Apricots, Carrots, Pumpkin, Cranberry, Broccoli, Spinach, Parsley, Artichoke, Rosemary, Fermentation Products (Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Lactobacillus Casei Fermentation Product, Bifidobacterium Bifidium Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Streptococcus Faecium Fermentation Product Dehydrated, Lactobacillus Sporogenes Fermentation Product Dehydrated), Enzymes (Amylase, Protease, Lipase, Cellulase, Bromelain), Mixed Tocopherols.
So I go back and dissect maybe 5 or 6 of the top nasty things.. Including 'animal plasma' I'd rather not have road kill or euthanized pets in my food thanks.. And I get told off for having an issue with what's naturally in the raw food she feeds the rest of her pets. Riiiiiiiiiight,. Big difference between the two, but thanks lady. Also loves to bring up AAFCO standards.. you guy.. they are the ones wording definitions of nasty stuff so it could be roadkill.

So I thought I'd show everyone this winner of a food. Yikes.

Oh oh I forgot the best part.. they also have a page of propaganda explaining why their narly ingredients are great.

So, 2 ingredients before the first fat, one of which is a grain-and what the heck is Montmorillonite?-Animal Plasma?!?yikes!-egg shell-and then a bunch of nice, healthy sounding veggies but probably not in enough quantity to make a difference (but why tomato powder? apple powder? Some after product of juice making, I'll bet) and some dehydrated (ie, dead and inactive) bacteria and enzymes. Woo hoo!!

Nasty doesn't even begin to describe it. Slick marketing buzz-words comes to mind, though.

Oh, here's what Montmorillonite is:

Quote:
The montmorillonite used in Nature’s Logic’s products is a natural source of mined colloidal trace mineral clay which contains over 50 mineral compounds. The area where this product is mined is a result of volcanic ash being deposited into inland sea waters.
Ummmmmm, mineral clay!

Animal plasma.. That's my favorite. So gross. Not only does it probably have dogs and cats in it- it's got their blood too!

Yeah, that whole Animal Plasma thing is pretty scary. Their website says it's from beef processing plants, and then further refined. Not even animal blood, just part of it.

Yeah, it's just ridiculous. I think this is the exact food they're talking about when they say if the fat falls before ingredient #4, it can cause bloat. Not only is it #3, there's yeast almost right after it- just to add more gas.

oh my gawwd. a marketing spinner's dream! ok the chicken meal & millet make up the bulk of the food since it's before the first fat, which is at least identified as chicken fat. but so much clay in the order of ingredients? and then yeast? yikes, they're not going for expensive good stuff are they? animal plasma... sweepings from slaughterhouse kill floors mixed with excrements and everything else that falls on the worker's boots, hosed off into a pit and then boiled down to "animal plasma", WTF! have they no shame, trying to "explain it" away like that. AS IF what animals ate in the wild had ANYTHING to do with this by-product of the human food industry. they have no shame

thanks for the find, prin. just when i think we've seen everything...

It wasn't even me who found it exactly, considering it was suggested to me as a 'great alternative to solid gold'.
I am still puking on my monitor after that.
I still can't reply as to how horribly awful this food is to the original place I got it from.
