"All right gang, gather round!!" barked Sheriff Cole.
"The first event will be the first round of Controlled Chaos! Keep it clean! Keep it safe!" "Let the Games begin in 3..2..1...!" Eventually, the entire Pack was panting and snorting steam into the cold air. At the end of the first round of Controlled Chaos, both the Sheriff and Grace had put on amazing exhibitions of talent.

"No time to rest!!" woofed King Ember. "The first round of the Mouse Hunt is next!"
The Mouse Hunt consists of three phases: The Tree Phase, the Fence Phase and the Tank Phase. Day one consists of the Tree and Fence Phases. "Hellowwww!!!! Any mice in there?" "Lemme check!" yodeled the King as he demonstrated a nearly perfect Mouse Hunt leap. "Nope, don't see any! Drat!" "On to the Fence Phase", barked Sheriff Cole.

Sheriff Cole led the search along the fence line, displaying the finest of mouse hunting form--arched neck and cocked head.
At the end of Day 1 of the Mouse Hunt, Sheriff Cole and King Ember were tied in the Mouse Hunt competition.

The last event for the Opening Day of the Hazel Run Winter Olympics was the Barking contest.
Grace and Princess~Queen Cass both put on inspired performances, but in the end, it was the Princess~Queen who walked away with the gold medal! "I won! I won!" "Aw, shaddup!" mumbled Grace grumpily.

Day 2 of the Hazel Run Winter Olympics dawned bright and sunny.
The first event was Spittle Bubbles. King Ember won this contest paws down! Next up, the finals of the Controlled Chaos event. Sheriff Cole and Deputy Brier started out strong but were disqualified when they were found to be in the wrong arena. The day's competition was being held in the Basement Yard and the Sheriff and his Deputy were in the Big Yard. "I wondered where all the fans were," chuckled Deputy Brier a little sheepishly in a later interview.

Meanwhile, back in the Basement Yard, the rest of the Pack was putting on an awesome display.
There was controlled chaos EVERYWHERE!! They leaped, they cavorted, they barked, they attacked!! And in the end, Grace won her first gold medal of these Olympic Games! "It was amazing!" she later crowed jubilantly to a reporter.

Next up, the finals of the Mouse Hunt! This last Phase was a hunt around the LP Tank and everyone was looking forward to it! Although both the King and the Sheriff put in another strong showing and the Princess~Queen showed flashes of brilliance.... ...it was Lady (in Waiting) Ridge who cornered the market in gold in the event with her brilliant display of tenacity and daring.

The final event for Day 2 of the Winter Olympics was Pairs Dance.
Alas, limited lifespan prevents this correspondent from posting EVERY image of the competition. Instead, let's enjoy some of the winning performance:

The Third and Final Day of competition also dawned sunny!
The conditions were perfect for the hill sport--Leaf Hauler Sledding! Let's review the winning sled run! Coach Grace gave Princess Lil Belle an amazing Pep Talk! "Ready to go, Lil Belle?" "Yes, I am!" And she's off!

"I win!! I win!!"
The final dismount: And Princess Lil Belle wins the gold medal!!!! "Tee hee. Lil Belle cheated! Luckily, she was the only participant, so she still won!"

The Day and the Winter Olympics themselves were rapidly coming to a close.
Only one event left--the Creme de la Creme, the Cat's Meow, the Shining Crown of Events! The Potty Contest!! Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie started off strong.... ...and Lady (in Waiting) Ridge put in a good showing... ...but it was the Dual Excellence of the Sheriff's and the King's Synchronized Peeing that brought down the house! And the Pack went wild!

Okay....so that was pretty dang long Obviously, I'm not typing any faster even if the pics upload faster with DSL!
Sorry I sucked you into thinking I was done with that long delay, Jennie. (I was out chasing deer out from under the bird feeders. The dogs start barking--how they know the deer are there is beyond me --and disturb hubby's sleep. ) But !

Thanks, guys, but I can't take the credit. As usual, the Pack orchestrated this one. hazel just uploaded the pics and did the typing for them as they dictated They would have preferred to do it themselves, but they have so much trouble with the keyboard!
They're very glad you enjoyed their celebration of canine sport!

Hazel I love your stories and pictures. They are just too much. Honestly. How is your search going for an editor or such? Have you sent anything to Readers Digest, maybe they'd print one and get you going??? These are just too good not to share with the world.

Isnt' that just a peculiar shot? I have no idea what the heck Grace thought she was doing there, but she often gets feisty with Ember. Quote:
