poodle ear infection
Since Aug 09 Sandy (foster) has been battling itchy, yeasty ear infection. After being fed Medi-Cal Duck & Potatoe and 3 rounds of surolan I have found Orijen Regional Red. As of 2 days now she is not digging at her ears nor chewing on her feet. Hope this food is the answer.

Sounds like the new food is helping. Think it could have been an allergy? What was she eating before the Medi-Cal? Any common ingredients with the old food and the duck & potato? Sandy continues healing.

Medi-Cal Hypoallergenic Duck & Potato formula still has grains in it. It also has flax meal and brewers yeast and lots of dogs are allergic to those ingredients as well.
I hope by switching to a grain free food like Orijen you have found a solution to Sandy's ear infections. Good luck. |

poodle ear
When her owners gave her up she was on Kibbles & Bits or some such crap, she was constantly scratching all over, her ears were raw, her coat was very coarse and she had chewed her feet to the point they were bleeding. Vets found a yeast infection in the ears and advised MediCal. Her itchiness was somewhat less on MediCal but the ears would flare up every few months. I so hope this new food works, can't stand seeing her so uncomfortable and resorting to surolan. Thanks for your well wishes.

I'm pretty sure it's the food. Medi-Cal does have a lot of grains , like Rainbow stated.
so glad her ears are already looking and feeling better ! |

The rest of my dogs eat origen but Sandy had reactions to their food but not regional red. Am surprised vets perscribed medi-cal knowing her allergies but they wern't even aware of Origen until I took a package in. Hopefully this will help other pets.
