can I feed my cat Musky???
My hubby and I love to fish and recently caught a gorgeous 45lb muskellunge (musky) and I was wondering if sharing this with our cat is ok? He seems to really like it...I cooked it! but there's way too much for just hubby and me. Is this ok for our cat - he's 12 years old and very healthy. Thanks, any input would be appreciated.

Go right ahead, but take out any bones, cooked bones can cause serious problems. If it's not something he's used to, give small quantities, don't let him gorge. Can you freeze it in small portions for him? A fish-only diet is not recommended for house cats, two or three times a week is fine.
45 pounds!!! Oh Canada.... |

I thought fishing season was over
I can't see why you an't feed your cat fresh fish, I just wouldn't overdo it though, just a little at a time.

Depends where you live in Ontario, i know around here atleast north of 17 some lakes dont close at all. Where my camp is, the only one that closes is Bass, But since they added Pickeral ( Walleye for the Americans) the Bass population has deteriorated Pike doesnt close in 90% of lakes here and "crappy" NEVER closes ( sunfish, perch, rockbass)all good eating but a real b%$%^ to clean
WOW a 45 lb Muskie Must have been a good fight! How long was it?

45 lb muskee
Notoes, the cat, loves it!!! but only a little at a time. The fish took my hubby 40 minutes to land and wouldn't fit in the net !! Should keep Notoes in fish all year at this rate!!! Yes, season is over as of Nov.15th here. Wife caught a 14 lb muskee on our last outing...what a treat - then on October 15 we both caught a 30 and 35 lb muskee - good eating BBQ'd with onions butter and lemon juice!! Thanks all of you for your replies

So, does your cat really have no toes, or too many?

I just think it's a shame to kill such a large Musky! That size is great breeding stock. It probably took 10-15 years to reach that size
I'm all about catch and release.....save some fish for the next generation to catch. I fear that there will be no (or very few) fish left by the time my son grows up.
