Puppy no longer lets me know when he has to go
It's frustrating!!!
Jack is 8 months old. When I first brought him home at 3 months he potty trained himself immediately. He'd go paw at the door, I'd take him out. He went out whenever I'd come home, and after coming out of his kennel (such as when I took a shower) Now he just goes whenever and doesn't let me know. It's so annoying. He'll poop on the floor, pee on the floor, whenever he wants. One moment he'll be playing with a toy at my feet, the next moment he'll be taking a dump at my feet. I hate having to clean it up. Advice? |

In my experience it's not too unusual to see a lapse in potty training habits around 8-10 months. That said, you might find it helpful if YOU set a potty schedule, with predictable times for going outside (i.e. first thing in the morning, when you get home from work, before bed, after dinner, after breakfast etc.) ...it puts you in control of the matter more than your pup and established a routine. I only take my cue from the dogs when it's an emergency (i.e. they've got an upset tummy). Otherwise, I set the routine.

Yep, dogs get a little rebellious at that age so it's back to Potty Training 101 for Jack.
