Dried Beet pulp culprit in Anal gland problems?

I'm just wondering if anyone knows or has experience with dried beet pulp and anal glands being backed up?

I switched my dogs over to Eagle brand Dog food, about 2 months ago. I caught her scooting a little bit on the carpet and wondered if "stool hardener" in this and other dog foods is the culprit? She and my other dog were eating Techni-cal prior, with no problems like this.

If so, what dog food brands in Canada do not have these types of ingredients?

(The dogs and cat will be in for their vaccination booster and check up at the end of the week and will be checked for worms and such...)

Hmmmmmmm,I have never had this problem with any of my dogs.

Tron has been Eagle Pack Holistic for quite some time now.And he is fine on it.No anal issues at all.

No it's the opposite. Beet pulp is a stool hardener, which would empty the anal glands better (unless the stool is still soft from the switch). It limits the blood supply to the intestines and slows peristalsis..

Is the stool firm? That's the main thing. Second to that, allergies can cause the anal glands to become itchy, even if they aren't full. If you empty them or the vet empties them and they aren't full, the doggy might have an allergy to something in the new food.

Foods without beet pulp are all the other holistic brands- Wellness, Solid Gold, Merrick, Canidae, Natural balance, etc..

Beet pulp

With the exception of the Eagle Pack Holistic, the other Eagle pack foods contain corn. If he has allergies corn may be the culprit.

Eagle pack bugs me. I've said it before.. Corn and beet pulp are corner-cutting cost savers. I'd expect more from a holistic food.

hehe ok, thanks for the help!

It is Eagle Pack Holistic. I am wondering, we got them The Holistic Select Duck flavour and that was when she started to scoot, we have since bought the lamb meal flavour....

Their stool is firm, they have regular movements as well.

we shall see what the vet has to say i suppose!

Well, if all goes well with the lamb, then it was something in the duck formula. Are there a lot of overlapping ingredients?

Dried beet pulp

Been feeding Champion Pet Foods Acana for YEARS...have 15 dogs...no health problems...never need vet for sickness...wholesome local ingredients, family run business, no BS, no corn, wheat or ingredients from "other countries", etc.

Anal glands not related to beet pulp...can happen to any small dog especially when diet is soft food.
