cats and moving

How many days would you recommend keeping an cat indoors before letting her out after a move? She has always been an indoor/outdoor cat with a cat door access.

Now is a purrfect time to teach her to be an indoor cat. This is an easier transition than if you were living in the same residence.

There are many reasons why this cat should stay indoors. I am not going to list them as there is alot of information here on why you should. You can start with the losts but there is other information if you surf.

Best of luck to you.

When we first got her as a kitten she was little miss Houdini escape artist. She has always been into personal freedom and adventure. Street smarts has kept her alive and healthy. I suspect she will want to explore ASAP and may pull a Houdini at first opportunity.

It won't. She will always try to get back to her old stompin' grounds.
Why is it so important that she have her "outdoor" freedom? No matter how street smart she is there is always a time when someone/thing will come along that is smarter. Or faster. If she needs to be outside take her out on a harness with two leashes in case one comes loose. Please do not let her out on her own. She will disappear.
The area you are moving to - does it have lots of strays? Lots of other cats? Have the strays been health tested? Are you sure there are no diseases? You know she will be getting into numerous fights (and not always winning) because she is the "newbie"?
Traffic - light or heavy?
I could go on, and on, and on.......

Is there any particular reason she's not just an indoor cat?
