I'd cheerfully swap, Hazel. LOL. Can't stand the heat. Actually , wouldn't mind it at all if it didn't come with the bushfire threat. Usually it's a dry heat here, quite bearable, unlike the tropical humidity this La Ninya weather event is giving us. 36F is cool, my dogs would love that!

OMD, are these all in bloom right now? They are stunning!!!!! I love the single ones, the stamens of these just stand out so beautifully. They do not need to beg a bee to come to them I bet the bees and other bugs come to them begging for more!!! lol You take wonderful pictures, thanks again for sharing. patti

That was the aim, Hazel, to have other people like them. I used to pass a lovely rose garden on my way to the Vet's, it really lifted my spirits each time I saw it, so I wanted mine to have that sort of impact. With time it will have, I hope.
Patti, these are November's roses, I was too busy sending iris photo's to worry about the roses. Some have finished their first flush and are starting a second, others are having a breather, while some haven't started flowering yet. I love singles too and can't wait for Chinensis Mutabilis to start flowering here. Single and the flowers change colour, they say it looks as if the bush is covered with big butterflies. Not a lot of bees on them though, they love the native Callistemons(bottlebrushes) you see and they're flowering too. Here are a few more.

The roses are not advanced enough for people to ooh and ahh yet, Patti. I was letting my sister prune, not realising she likes rose bushes to be small, while I like them to be big. (Grrr !) It set them back and I actually lost a lot seeing Barbara didn't take into account that the climate is much harsher here than at her place. My hubby says that I must prune in future.

At this point are you able to prune, GF? How's the injury healing?

Pruning season isn't till Winter, Hazel. so hopefully my arm will be fine, thanks. Because we finally got some rain, it's aching a bit today and I do find it a strain to carry things with that arm. It did get to 37C yesterday before the thunderstorms arrived. Two things I'm happy about, that Jarrah doesn't seem to feel the heat as much as Perkins use to, and that my lovely cream rose, Isn't She lovely, didn't become crisp in the sun. Yay!

It's almost winter now, GF Ya, ya, I know.... I mean, other than nothing about roses.

Glad Jarrah is holding up to the heat well.

So this last set of roses are ones you've never seen before in your garden? They're lovely. How many different roses do you have?

Fragrant Plum, Chicago Peace, Ebb Tide, Smooth Buttercup and quite a few others were new this season. When I started off I wanted own root roses, in other words roses grown from cuttings so that if they suckered, what came up would not be the understock, as with a grafted rose. Well ... apart from it being hard to get cuttings to strike, I find they don't thrive and gradually I am losing them, so if I say I had 160 roses, that's really a guess. I need to do another count. My garden is very big, I haven't even tackled the front yard with the idea of planting more out there yet.

Not many sunflowers this year, they just didn't thrive, and my sister, who lives 220 miles from me said the same about hers. Strange!
The first rose is named Ashram. It's put on a lovely display this year.
The second is New Duet. A great rose in that it opens very slowly and lasts longer than most roses.
