Man Charged In Puppy Death

A Toronto man is facing animal cruelty charges after his cocker spaniel puppy died following several hours spent in a hot vehicle without water.
The Humane Society rescued the four-month-old pup, Lady, from the Weston Road and St. Clair Avenue W. area
Lady was rushed to an emergancy vet clinic and was treated, but died of heatstroke 16 hours later.
Jason Chi-Hsing Lee, 30, is charged.

How could someone do this? I mean, why would someone take their dog with them in their car and be in a place for several hours knowing their dog is waiting in that car? I remember a few years back there were tons of advertisment and promotion to let ppl know how dangerous it is to leave a pet in the car, for even an hour! Why has this stopped? Am I wrong for thinking that there should be some sort of recognition that it's hotter for animals than humans on the car dealership commercials? Or that the buyer is told about this?
