(high quality) food without corn
Hi Everyone,
I think my cat may have developed an allergy to corn. She was on Iams original, and was fine. Then she seemed to have trouble, so I slowly switched her to Max Cat from Nutro (adult - not salmon flavour). The trouble continued, so she is now on boiled skinless chicken, rice pablum, and canned pumpkin (thanks to a great suggestion someone made!), and seems to be clearing up. I'm thinking of switching to a cat food with no corn, because I think that this might be causing her trouble. I know that max cat only has corn gluten, but I wonder if this might even be enough to upset her stomach. Does anyone have suggestions for cat food (high quality, but still affordable) that has NO corn? Thanks! |

Felidae doesn't either. It's relatively inexpensive, about the same as Iams, I think.
If she's doing well on boiled chicken, that's probably a great thing to feed her anyhow! If you can add cooked meat to quality dry cat food, or very good canned cat food to kibble, it's better than an all-dry diet anyhow. cats are obligate carnivores (they MUST have meat to thrive), so giving her a diet high in meat content is best. Good luck with her!

Many dogs and now cats are becomming allergic to corn. Always read your labels even if the front says "natural" or lamb and rice. Other good foods that dont have corn include Innova, Chicken Soup for the Cat lovers Soul, & Solid Gold.
