Kongs

Are Kongs really the best chew toy even for little dogs?

I dont know if I would say they are the best chew toy but they are better than some toys from a destructive point of view? Some folks may like a braided rope better for chewing?? everyone has a different opinion??

If your looking for something fun that is like a kong then I would check out the "CUZ"..its in the same rubber form but it has feet on it and when they manage to squeeze the CUS it makes a noise..alot of dogs love them!

The Kong is so hard that the dog loses interest. Some fill it with peanut butter and freeze for a treat. I agree with the "Cuz" my dog still plays with it all the time. Beware they can chew off the feet so make sure its under your supervision for choking. The rope is a good chew toy as well.

Our dogs love Kongs and Cuzzes...only we have to cut the feet off any Cuz we give them or they'll chew them off and eat them. The Kongs are a lot more durable, but even so, they need replacing every few months and no one is allowed to chew unsupervised, because no toys are indestructible...

Hmmm, Bayley only plays with her Kong if it's stuffed. I have had footless Cuzzes!! I don't know if Bayley really has a fave toy. I don't do ropes anymore cause she loves to shake them and if you get hit in the shins with one of those knots, it sure doesn't tickle!! She likes those unstuffed stuffies, they are really good for shaking.

I got Marty a toy that had a braided rope on it and I had to take it away from as Marty was chewing the rope off and I did not want him to choke on it.

The pups each have a kong. I stuff them with peanutbutter and dog food kibble then freeze them and at night I give them to them at bedtime when they go out on the deck. They love them. They also love their rope toys. I have a cuz at home none of the dogs have ever been in love with it. It still has feet!

In my experience Kongs still rock with most breeds that like to chase and play fetch. Stuffing the kong seems to increase interest.
Agree with HRP that these toys should still be used under direct supervision.

Maybe if I froze Bayley's kongs, she can empty it in minutes. If I just put cookies and some rollover in it. She eats the rollover, bites it to break up the cookies more and then throws it on the floor to get the cookie pieces out! She's not a big fan of peanut butter so I use a bit of cream cheese to cover the hole.
