"Natural Balance" and allergies in a lab
Hello,
I have a 6 years chocolate lab, who’s prone to food allergies (pork, lamb, wheat and so on). For 4 years I've been feeding him "Natural Balance" Allergy line food: Potato and Duck first, then Venison and Green Pea, and now Sweet Potato and Fish. During the time he gets used to the food and developed allergy (mostly scratching and ear infection). Questions: is Natural Balance good quality food and what do I need to feed him to reduce the allergies? Thanks Alex |

Hi, and welcome!
This is not a bad food, there are better foods out there. Knowing what gives him the allergies is good because you can look at the ingredients and make a choice. Some good brands of food are: Timberwoolf Organics, Soli Gold, Merrick, Innova … |

Do you clean his ears regularly? Labs tend to get ear infections anyway because of the way the ears are, especially if he swims. It could also be environmental allergies...
DVP is a great food for allergies... The only other one I could recommend that might be completely different as far as the grains go is Timberwolf Organics' Ocean Blue. But they're hard to find in Canada (unless you're in BC). Hmm.. It might be the flaxseed that he's allergic to. Maybe... Some dogs get itchy with too much flax... |
