Pug with problems , need help and need somebody to read MRI
OK
To make this story short cause. We own a great black pug , Male , 1 year and 5 months old . He started going in circles and was depressed and so on before 3 months , he didnt want to jump , go down the stairs or up , basicly he was bad Vet didnt know what it is he tought its innear ear infection , cause he was also disbalanced , i dont know what to say we had like millions of problems. He was giving antibioitics for 20-25 days and now everything is normal , its just that he kinda slow reacts on the left side , which our new vet says , also he told us to do MRI which we did it and i have the scans at home , hes still waiting for some information about the images , and i cant wait for him im going crazy here i just wanna know whats going on with the pug. So currently pug is going in circles from time to time , and kinda not looking on left eye , and according to vet hes kinda slow on reaction on left side. Hes not blind according to him. I can sendspace.com the images they are like 75 MB of them and i would really appriciate if somebody here knows someone that can read them today/tomorrow Thank you |

Welcome to the board, jelenavlatko! Given that most of our members aren't vets or imagery techs, I'm not sure anyone will be able to help you out. Sorry to hear about your pug. I hope it turns out to be nothing too serious
We'd love to hear about your little guy if it would help pass the time while you're waiting to hear from the vet.

At this age and breed there are a few things that could be going on. Certainly sterile inflammation (such as autoimmune or GME, etc), infectious, hydrocephalus, etc would be top on the list. Brain cancer would be less likely due to age. Other possibilities also exist. While you must be on pins and needles and waiting can be really difficult and nerve racking - I would recommend that you wait for an official reading. MRIs really need to be read out by a veterinary radiology specialist or a veterinary neurology specialist. No one else reads enough of these to be able to give you a reliable answer. I would hate for you to receive inaccurate information. Once there is either a diagnosis or a direction for treatment, then we can talk about options. If he is having or exhibiting clinical signs that are creating discomfort for him - contact your vet or emergency vet. There are medications that can help depending on the clinical signs. I hope that this helps.

Hello and thank you for writting me some fast.
The dog is not bad at the moment actually hes playing with my golden retriver as im writting this. But im kinda worried that our vet says that ( hes not expert in the field of the big brain or how is it called ) the dog has hydrocephaus , and by reading online , i got very dissapointed because as i see its very hardly for him to pass this stage ever and that he wont be alive very long. He said that he send the MRI to the right person that will read them and give their opinion about everything Its just i cant wait , i hope you get my point |

When did he think he'd be able to get back to you? I hate waiting, too.

Sorry to hear! That must be very scary and stressful for you.
In human babies with hydrocephalus they usually get a shunt (tube) put into their brain that drains into the abdomen to take the extra fluid out of the brain. I guess this would probaby not be very safe in a dog considering how they play and stuff. I have no idea what they would do for a dog. I hope that whatever is going on with him there is a way to fix it. Good luck! |
