Considering Accepting a Foster

We have been asked to consider bringing a foster dog to our home for a short time. My husband and I have two dogs and feel we can accept a third for this placement. Our current dogs are young, in good health and reasonably well-adjusted. My big concern is, how do you give the dog you are fostering back? I really want to give back to the breed I love so much. One of my previous dogs was a rescue and I feel this is a way to honor her memory. How do you not get too attached?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.
