digital cameras

Looking to buy easy to work (uncomplicated) not too expensive digital, would love to post pics on my new computer but am clueless, saw some at WalMart and all those dials did me in. Have a Compaq Presario and it would be great to utilize it to the full extent. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sorry about the demise of your camera, how annoying, my dane (9 mos.) ate the drivers seat out of my car, had to take an expensive taxi ride home after locating a cab that would allow him in it. The things our pets get into ah!

Mine is a Fuji Finepix. Has video and sound and is a 5.1megapixel. I won't be enlarging photos taken with it more than 8 x 10 so I really don't need to get into the higher megapixels. It is very easy to use. I don't remember how much I paid for it but ballpark it was only in the $220.00 - $250.00 range I think.

I have a tiny Canon A520... We got it because it was a "consumer reports" best buy and it was in our price range ($220 at costco) and because it's faster than a lot of crappy cams out there. There are automatic programs and manual programs. It's only 3.2 megapixels, but we keep it on the highest setting, "large superfine" and it seems to be ok for our purposes (aka doggies).

I love my Canon Powershot A630. It does everything I want it to, but it's an aim and shoot. Mine is 8MP which seems to be good. Hubby also has a Canon and I think they are really nice cameras.

Kodak EasyShare Z730 5MP
Kodak EasyShare DX7630 6MP

I paid $349 but they are about $100 cheaper now,a great little camera.
Easy to use, although I have not figured everything out yet

I have a Kodak EasyShare... dont bother with it!!!!! I dont like it at all... it's slow to take pictures, blurs the scenery and doesnt zoom well at all.....
on a scale of 1-10 Id give it a 3..... It takes pics, but just not very nice ones.

I have an Olympus D560 zoom and love it. Its only 3.2 mp but as Prin does, I take pics at the highest resolution setting. Its an older camera, but its better than most others I've tried.
I got mine at Henry's. They pointed me to it based on what I said I would be using it for, that is close ups and low light shots.
My BF has a Kodak easy share 5.1 mp and while it takes great pics, the low light ones aren't very good.

Thats the same one i have, I find it leaves out too much detail, its just a blur most of the time.

I have a Samsung D53.

It is 5 megapixels, and has a 3 times optical zoom.

It takes video with sound. A good point and shoot camera with a lot of good options.

The screen on the back is big and the picture quality is great, really clear. It is good in low light conditions as well.

It was around 150 dollars. I got it on sale though

I've taken his camera out more than once and found that the day time outdoor pictures are ok, but overcast and indoor shots aren't as good. The pics get even worse if your subject is in motion or in a shadow.

My olympus has burst mode which is great for well lit action shots, plus the night time picture setting rocks (but you can't be holding the camera, its sensitive to vibration and your shot will be blurry)!

A book I have that you may want to invest in is called The digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby. Its mostly written for DSLR cameras but most of the content can also be applied to point and shoot cameras.

My husband knew I wanted a better camera, suprised me with a Kodak Easy Share C875 for Christmas. (8MP, $300 range)

This isnt it, unfortunately.

Though I'd never hurt his feelings by complaining.. I'm not very happy with it
I find it blurs backgrounds, low lighting or indoor shots are often poor, the zoom useless.
I'm still getting used to using it though, so maybe adjustments will help.
So far, for the "step up" in photos that I was hoping for..it just doesnt deliver.

That's pretty normal for a cheap point and shoot camera, Shamrock. Most of them need bright sun to get great pics.

Yeah, that's very true Prin.
It's not what I would have selected....and though I'm very appreciative of the gesture, replacing one cheap point and shoot with another is just a lateral move - and a waste of money, really .

The salesman sung it's praises, and my hubby's not even remotely familiar with cameras - their options, features, or the huge price range. He believed he "was" getting me a better camera, I know that.
It's always buyer beware.. and do your homework.

I even thought of taking it back... but, well, it was a gift... and he's kind of sensitive that way.
So... got it now..

You could always get a crazy SLR digital camera and then they would be in such different leagues, that it wouldn't compare... We have one of each and are a lot less worried about breaking the little one, so we bring it everywhere...

I have a Canon Powershot S80 - a point and shoot and it takes great pix - 8 megapixels. I also have a Canon Rebel (Digital SLR ) which takes really nice pix. The S80 is very easy to use - can be used as fully automatic or with manual settings. Downloading to the computer is a snap - software is provided with the camera. One great feature of this camera is the "pets" setting for automatic pictures - it can be used for pets or anything else that moves - like sports shots..
