Talking Kailey Found Her Forever Home!!!

Turns out that it's with us

A lot of things have changed over the past month, and seeing how gentle and playful she was with the other dogs this past weekend really sealed the deal. She really is a perfect fit for our family

I've been working for awhile and hubby is thisclose to getting a paramedic job now....so now we can afford to take care of her, and we plan to move to a townhouse in Jan. or Feb., so we'll have more space.

She really has come leaps and bounds since arriving here. She's more confident and a LOT less nervous. Her basic obedience is really great now. She listens to me well (finally!) and looks to me and not just hubby for direction. I couldn't even walk her on my own in the beginning, but now do so with little trouble. We'll look into doing some training sessions in a couple months to work through any remaining leash aggression that we can't handle.

The biggest barrier for me was thinking we could never foster again if we kept her, but now I've seen how kind and gentle she really is and I think we can do it...we'll just have to learn to stop keeping them!

So I told the rescue today what we were thinking and she was thrilled! We haven't signed any papers yet or anything, but she's happy and we're happy and it looks like Kailey won't be going anywhere! And I'm sure Chase will approve

Congrats. Frenchy will tell you that I am a foster failure as well (Aren't you a foster failure as well Frenchy ....not once but TWICE! hA!).

Sometimes it is meant to be. Out of 63 (now) fosters, I kept one. So pleased to hear that this dog is obviously in the best of hands.

Thank you for answering the call for help (and to some other members too!!) and providing Kailey with a home that will be able to give her a chance in life!! thats all she needed was the chance! She has a special spot in my heart! I wanted to take her sooo bad.(then again I always want to take one!! ) but DH was not on board! but she has her FOREVER HOME!!!! YAY!!!

Chases-mom I think you made an awesome decision!! I hope I can see Kailey and Chase again soon!

Thank you everyone!!!!! We're feeling great about our decision, and SO relieved she isn't going anywhere now! We realized this week that we'd better say something before anyone came to meet her or anything....b/c we knew full well we would never think that anyone else could possibly be good enough for our girl!

mollywog - We will for sure foster again, but not for awhile. We need to wait to move to a bigger place, and although I think Kailey will do well with it eventually, she's not there just yet. We need to focus on her for now.

Frenchy - Hamilton's dog limit is something we need to investigate still, but I think it's 3. At the rate we're going though we know our eventual goal is to move out to the country! We still want a male rott and a female Bernese...plus a foster! And kitties. Oh my this is really going to get out of hand eventually!

Toonces - I'm so happy that now you'll get to meet her!!! And don't even mention kittens.....your nephew has banned that word from our house for at least six months.

bendyfoot - She really is the most gorgeous GSD we have ever seen....and rare I think as well. From all the research I've done my best guess is that she is a cream sable (or possibly silver....she's sort of in between). Not that common from what I gather. I promise I will always post lots of pics!

Winston - She really is a special girl....something about her just made me burst into tears as soon as I saw her picture and read her story that day. Even hubby made the decision instantly to help her....and he rarely does anything without thinking it through very carefully! You and Sylvie are ALWAYS welcome to come see her....the two of you were vital in helping us make this work, and we will always be so grateful for that!

Huge congrats on the decision to adopt Kailey, I don't see it as foster failure, I see it as you are wonderful foster mom, that is upgrading to a status of a permanent one! LOL
Kailey is so lucky to have been adopted by someone like you, and I am sure she will have the most wonderful life a pup could have!
for Kailey!

I hadn't seen this before. Wow, congratulations! I was hoping you would keep her. She just seemed so happy to be with you there and especially with Chase. I've always thought that pets like kids should have at least a brother or sister to be with, and Chase just looked like he was on a cloud whenever you'd post pictures.

Congratulations!
