Karma
Well we are done showing for this round of showing.
Karma did very well, our first 2 shows she was unsure of what was going on ( we both were to be honest) she was greatly accepted into the show world by all. She actually seemed to enjoy herself with is unlike her breed. We had a lot of great tips and advice from some other handlers and made a bunch of new friends. Karma's new best friend of the weekend was a little Whippet  it was so cute, when her buddy was in the ring showing she was watching her the whole time ears perked and just looked so proud/happy.We're looking forward to our next show which should be this August, but may even consider a bit of a travel and head up to one that is 4 hours away in July. Karma heading into the show for the first time   In the ring with her group, here we are up against 4 professional handlers (you cant see the Boxer handler in this pic), I didnt know this until later on   Karmas Best of Breed pic, under the judge whom during her down and back made a hand gesture to get her attention which is the same hand gesture that we use for "sit" thus dropping Karma into a dead stop sit He was quite impressed with her obedience training and we later chuckled about how it was nice that for a TM she was "willing to comply" today. (Judges comment about the sit thing)

No there wasnt any points awarded but she did impress the judges, they welcomed me to the show world and gave some tips for Karma in the future.
I'm pretty excited for this years show season now though. It wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it was going to be, even if I totally forgot what to do at one show lol. Karma's tracking instructor was there as well and we have the tracking class dates and will be shooting for her TD title and judging by her willingness to do obedience we will be going for her CD title as well. This weekend coming up we have an introduction to french ringsport, I'm not sure which dog I will be bringing.

Even though it was implied that she was basically a "brainless dog" here once upon a time ( actually all of mine would be conisidered this here) she picks up on things really fast and takes her "job" very seriously, shes slow at what she does, like her tracking, she is very meticulous following her track and ensures she is right on it at all times as apposed to lets say the lab or pitbull that was in her class who just run the trail head high and correct themselves if needed, karma makes sure.
She wouldnt be good in a life or death speed track but she always finds her scent, just takes a longer time. Obedience work, she knows exactly what is needed to be done ( which is clear by her dropping into a sit mid "down and back" yesterday) but you have to see if she is willing to co operate that day lol. French ringsport is really neat. I know you cant really watch videos Hazel, but if anyone wants to see what it is we will be doing next weekend this is it.  Cool. Sort of like a schutzhund sort of training? Karma sounds like a sharp girl--knows her mind, but when she puts her mind to it, she follows through to the end!

No, its Sault Ste Marie lol.
next year I think we will be heading south and out and about a little more as I will have 3 adults to show. I would rather wait until they pass their genetic health evaluations prior to showing.

Golly, too many great photo's like these and you'll have me wanting to go back showing again. She really looks the part in the lineup, Erykah, she's lovely.
Was one of the tips you got about wearing something lighter in colour so her outline is seen better by the Judge? That's funny about her obeying the judge and sitting, smart girl, but I often think dogs love to embarrass us too. Golly I could tell some tales about red faced owners.LOL.

Just her willingness to work with me. she does have her days where she is very much like a TM and takes a message and will get back to me but for the most part she is willing to please which is not very common with the breed.
I have been told it would be near impossible to put a CD on a TM... its been 3 years in the working for training but I wont give up, she likes doing it (most days) and responds well to the methods used so one day we WILL get that CD title

Congrats on the win! She sure is pretty too. This is the one that did dog sledding for a dary?
I wanted to ask if Karma's friend, the whippet, was from Wenrick's? If I remember right they breed them there.

Well we will all be in the ring this September at the show there, its usually around the 17th.
But hey, I'm in Sudbury all the time so we can arrainge a meet and greet when ever We will be in Garson for French ringsport this weekend coming

Wow, congratulations to you and Karma, she looks wonderful. You must have had a great time! Good advice from Goldfields about the colour of clothes you wear when showing her. All the little pointers will make you a professional shower in no time too! You go girl!
