Older cat - Skipping a meal

Hi everyone!

Our female cat Twiggy is around 15 now.
She's still in good shape we feel - but she started skipping a snack that we give at 5:30 AM. (They get a wet breakfast at 9 AM) The other 3 are dying of starvation by 5:30... but twiggy has recently started choosing sleep.

Is this cause for concern?

Thx

I don't have any 'old cat' experience, but I think I'd be concerned if she were losing weight. Does her weight seem stable?

the weight does seem stable - she just seems to choose sleep over a 5:30 snack...hopefully, just old age but will keep an eye out for the weight.
thx!

Hi Marko! Hope you and Carmy are doing well in this weird world we live in!!
Thank Dawg for our pets to give us some normalcy....

I would say all is well but you should have maybe a check up to see how Twiggy is doing. Maybe just some bloodwork to make sure all is well with her appetite.

Have you tried to entice her from her sleep....maybe a few extra goodies on her meal might entice her to eat.

I think alot of cats get bored from their meals.

Cindy

Marko is Twiggy hungry and eager for her 9am wet breakfast or does she have to be coaxed to eat that meal as well?

I agree with Winston blood work would be a good idea at her age. As cats get older sometimes they don't finish meals or skip a snack or treat as their caloric requirements may not be as high as it once was, definitely watch her weight.

With all cats you do need to watch for little or no eating especially if it continues more than 1 day as that can lead to hepatic lipidosis.

thx GG - she's just getting lazy on that early morning meal - she's into the other meals/snacks including that wet brekkie (Wifey and I makes sure snacks are aplenty and Twiggy loves em)

Gonna keep my eyes open and Vet the cat if any more suspicions pop up.
