Food Transitioning Question?
I am in the process of Switiching my dog from Wellness Simple soloutions to Orijen she has been on it since last Thursday (Jan 28) and she has been doing fine. We have been mixing the old and new food together. I was just wondering if I could safely transistion her in 7 Days or would that be too short? She seems to be doing well on the Orijen I haven't noticed any problems.

I think I mentioned before Josh, I didn't transition our dogs, I just switched....I believe when switching to grain free that no problems should arise.
I'm sure that someone with more knowledge in the food dept will be along who can help you more than myself. |

I know I just don't want to end up making her sick and every dog is different. |

This is something that I found and used when I switched our dogs food last year;
Day 1- 3 75% old 25% new Day 4- 6 50% old 50% new Day 7-10 25% old 75% new Day 11 100% new It worked with little/no tummy disruptions.

^ That's about what I do.
I have found when transitioning dogs from grained kibbled to non-grain you have to go a bit slower. I have changed 3 dogs over (all at different times), and they all got explosive diarrhea if they were switched too fast. I think just because the food is so much richer. |

I was given bad advice from someone who I thought knew what she was talking about in regards to food and after a bunch of research on my own, I feel like I have to change dog food again.
We changed from Science Diet to Nutro about 2 weeks ago (and finally finished the full transition), but since I found out more info about Nutro, I know I need to change it again. So my question is this: Is it too soon to switch again? Should I wait it out, or start transitioning right away? |

If you can I would reccomend the gradual transition but many people do a cold turkey switch without much problems. I just adopted my puppy and didnt want to get the food he was being fed (Royal Canin) becaue I would have had to get a big bag, so I just got my small pack of Orijen and thats what he eats now. |
