need pictures of shih tzu haircuts
I'm looking for pictures of shih tzu haircuts. My shih tzu cross puppy had her first haircut yesterday and I do not like it! It's certainly not the groomer's fault - she did what I asked. But apparently I didn't know what I wanted...
I searched and searched the net last night for a website with a variety of haircuts, but I can't really find anything. I have a shih tzu book with diagrams of profiles of different cuts - completely useless to me. If anyone has knowledge of where I can find a good selection of shih tzu haircuts, please pass it on to me! Thanks! |

if you go to Pets that have passed away you can see a picture of Sophie. It is under the heading Rest in Peace Sophie posted by Marko for me. The seems to be the easier hair cut to manage for a Shih Tzu. That is Sophie beside my name.

I currently have two shih zus,,one fairly long and one short,,my previous one had semi long hair. If you're not prepared to spend some time everyday brushing and combing then I suggest a short cut. Kaya is the one with long hair, she is going in to groomers on Wednesday for a shorter cut. With the two dogs playing so much she looks terrible 10 minutes after she is combed out. Some shih zus have different coats as well, so that has to be considered when choosing a style as well. Personally I like the long look, but it is much harder to maintain with two dogs.

angeldogs and dobb - Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your pups! I really wish the groomer hadn't taken off so much around Roxy's face. At least it grows back fairly quickly.

What's the other dog in the mix? Maybe it doesn't even need to be cut?! But failling that, I'd likely just ask for a 'puppy' cut, with the hair being scissored (as opposed to using the clippers) and no shorter than an 1"... My guy is part shih tzu part Pomeranian and I don't have to clip him, just a good brushing twice a week... Ok, so maybe I trim the really long fur on his back end and I also trim the fur on his feet to make them cute and round, but I do it myself with the kitchen scissors
Here's a good view of all his fur/fluffyness |

The reason you are finding it hard to find cut styles for shih tzu's is because they don't have one. Their hair is supposed to be long everywhere with minor trimming around the edges if needed. The cuts you see are just an all over shave. All you need to do is decide what length you want each area of the body.

we try to keep her face short.she gets real bad eye snot and have to wash her face every morning.it's not so bad since we switched her food.plus it being short around her eyes makes it nicer.the only hair thats kind of long is her tail.
