Question yam and pork

Has anyone heard of a yam and pork for dogs as a hypoallergenic diet?

I haven't. I know a lot of allergy foods that have sweet potatoes (sweet potatoes are sometimes called yams...even thought they are slightly different. It confuses me to no end. )

Pork doesn't seem to be used frequently in pet foods, and I don't think I've ever seen it used as the sole protein source in a food.

Pork can be a little harder to digest....I don't think I've ever seen it in a dog or cat food either. My cats would kill for a ham variety cat food....they have to settle for only having it when I cook one, which isn't often.

Not me. My dog eats Fromms Salmon A La Veg - and the company also makes Duck and Sweet Potato - but have seen nothing with Pork at all.

I have seen pork as an ingredient but can't remember in what brands. I did a search on Google and found this:

Quote:
I am often questioned about the use of pork in a couple of the super premium dog foods listed in my list of better foods. There is the notion that pork is not appropriate to feed your dogs.
That is an excerpt from Linda Arndt's website: http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/the_pork_myth.htm

I don't have time to check out her list right now but perhaps you can find something there. Good luck.
