This may be TMI, but I need to rant.

I've had my period since I was 14. At that age, I was excited about it. I remember being jealous of my cousins who had already had theirs for a couple of years. At that age, I felt quite the little lady. I felt like I was privy to some secret only women know.

Now I'm 41 and I wish I could just give this secret away already!!

OMG, enough already! I know some day I'll regret saying this, no doubt when I'm in the midst of having a hot flash, but I wish I'd start menopause already. I see menopause as my step closer to being rid of this THING forever! I hate it. I hate it so much, I've actually bee envious of the two women I know who have had hysterectomies! I sit and pray to whoever is listening, "Kids are pretty much out of the plan for me here, so you can have this thing back now. Give it to someone who needs it. Make it go away."

Right now, I'm cranky (as you can tell), I have a headache, I'm hungry, in fact I'm starving and I've had breakfast! I'm crampy and I feel like screaming.

Well it's just a fact of life. The best medicine is to go with the flow. Don't let this get in the way of normal everyday routine.

When I feel yuckky - I take my dog for a walk or do something that I love such as painting. I soon forget about this curse and my mood is lightened.

My motto is to find anything that makes you happy - and go with it.

I was telling my girls the other night how lucky they were that they don't have to deal with this!

Oksana never went through heat, I spayed her before she had the chance. Kiska unfortunately, had her first heat a week before I was to take her in to be spayed, so Tiny Miss had to go through it once. Czari, I don't know if she ever experienced it or not, but she also doesn't need to worry.

Bah, I think if I had the spare cash, I would seriously consider it.

I'm trying to keep busy today, just so I don't have it on my mind. I keep going to my calendar and counting the days I may have left. Which stinks because I just started!!!

I'm 41, too, and until the last couple of years my cycle has been nothing but a nightmare. When I was 19 the solution they had was a hysterectomy, though as my mom refused.

Menopause can't come too soon for me.

Yea, lucky you. Your 41, So you probably dont have to muchtime left of the crap. Im 15 and I have the worst ones in the world. I ahave never been "Regular"

I have went 8 months with no "P" and Then, BAM. Here it comes. FOR 3 WEEKS! Now im down to going 3 months without it and then having it for 3 weeks

Lovely, absolutely lovely! Sooo. Lucky you. I still have 35 years or more of the stuff! lol Seriously. I have the worst pains even when it does come!

I'm sorry AG! I'm only 20 and I am also SOOOO ready to rip it all out!

I'm already an emotional person, and then, when its THAT time, I'm an emotional wreck! Cramps, and back aches... UGH!

I've cheated a couple times and taken my BC pills back to back just have a month off!

Got you all beat! Between 2007-2008 I had it for 8 months straight....

This time around it has been with me since Sept???? But I am on the list!

There is a waiting list of 5 months...I am praying that it happens just in time for summer! Then I will have between 6-8 weeks off to get better!

Just not looking forward to having surgury but its gotta be better than this..

So anytime you feel bad think about having it everyday for 8 months straight...

I'm 49 in a couple of weeks..I asked for "M" for my birthday, but not sure I'm going it get it.:sad:

thought about going in for surgery but they say that I'm not a good candidate yet..

why don't you get on a pill, patch, or injection (depoprovera) that can regulate your cycle, lessen the time, or make it so you only have it a few times a year? I think seasonale gets you down to 4/yr. if you want to go the natural route, consult with your doc about starting on a natural progesterone cream regimine. this is a cream that is made at a compounding pharmacy, then applied to thin skin areas (wrist, feet, etc) so it's absorbed well, and it can actually lessen the intensity of your period and help regulate your hormones.

Keep in mind what you EAT has a HUGE role in how you feel. MANY foods contain chemicals which your body preceives as, or turns to, estrogen. which can make cramping a whole lot worse. likewise, certain foods can also cause water retention and headaches, especially at "that time".

Thats what started my problem.....At least thats what the doc thinks anyway...All from 2 shots of depo provera...I have tried all remedies and beleive me nothing works...As a matter of fact I am taking a pill now that is for hempheliacs! its supposed to help me stop bleeding.. How do I live you ask! patience....now DH thats another story...

yes, i believe it. I tried the depo when i was a teen and had a few issues... namely a period that seemed to last forever... it did stop, eventually. It's just a matter of finding what your hormones tolerances are and what will work for you. I spent MANY long years on every pain killer known to man... had mulitple surgeries... and went through hell for what was finally diagnosed as endometriosis and adenomyosis. I did alot of research, got off all drugs, and went the natural route (the progesterone cream) and it was by far the best way of balancing me out.

depo doesn't work for everyone, but it does help some women. just like the pill or patch, and the many dose levels of all of those.

ancient, if you hate your 'monthly visitor' so much, you should go on a light dose of birth control pills; problem solved. There are even some medical minds who now think that constant periods are not optimum for a woman's health. Google 'suppressed menstruation' and check it out.

Menopause ain't no picnic either.

What I hate the most is that people seem to know when it's your time of month and they do things just to annoy you!

Every month is different for me...a potpouri of fun! Some months I can't even get out of bed from headaches...others, I can't get out of the bathroom...and then others go by without a glitch! I don't get it...I am too old now to go on the pill and I too am not a good candidate for surgery...

I never know when to expect it to come either...I am under a lot of STRESS and that certainly does not help...I have been a month and a half without one...maybe I should plan something important...that'll make the evil thing rear it's ugly head!

Another option for some might be an IUD. Hurts like an S.O.B. going in, but afterwards - no more periods! For at least 5 years!

Be careful what you wish for.

I am a couple years older then you and am peri-menipausal. I wish my periods were the 5 days long that they were a year and a half ago. Or if, when they were over - they were really over for the month. Or that, on two of those 5 days, I just had a heavy flow instead of the gargantuan flow I have now.

And I am not even up to hot flashes and mood swings!!

Funny how we all feel the same yet different about this womenly issue.

I feel the opposite - altho Im just 31, my experience trying to get preggers changed my outlook on my period and "hating" it.

I was on depo for years, loved it - no period, no side effects, camping trips without periods, vacations without periods, uninterrupted sex life. What more could a 25 year old girl ask for? lol!! I LOVED IT! Then, when I decided to try to get preggers it took me 2 years to get my period to start up again and another year to regulate it - and several more months to concieve, all the while hating the fact that I messed with it to begin with. It cause our infertility and delayed treatment with specalist due to the fact i intentionally stopped my period. After 3+ grueling years of trying to concieve, dealing with awful pms once it returned - I swore I would never mess with my womenly cycle ever again!

I still feel this way. I was more disappointed with not getting my period regularly then I ever was with a negative pregnancy test. It made me feel disapointed with my body, wishing it was "normal".

I do agree its not pleasent, it hurts like a SOB at times and makes you feel down right yucky! But I personally feel lucky to have it now because of the struggles Ive been thru. I will never again go on birth control let alone something that would stop it all together.

Ask me again when Im 50 if Im still cycling. lol!

They do say the time line you hit menopause is hereditary - and you can base your big M time around when your mother went thru hers - give or take a few years either way. My mom went thru it at 37 so I might not have that long to go before it ends.

Badger, unfortunately, my insurance doesn't cover ANY birth control medications or procedures. They are nice enough to cover Viagra. If I was a 50 something year old man with erectile dysfunction, I'd be set.

Winston, holy moley woman! I think I'd go insane if I was going through what you are. My hats off to you for not killing everyone in sight!

Ford Girl, when I was in my 20's and part of my 30's, I just dealt with it. I had the hopes of getting married and having children. I was up for it.

As I slowly began going through my 30's, I realizes I was likely not getting married any time soon, if at all. I also saw what my friend was going through with her kids. She'd had a baby and as I observed her, I realized, maybe motherhood just wasn't for me. At least not mother to a baby.

Now as I am in the start of my 40's, I know I do not have the patience for a baby or small child. I'm not dating so therefore, my marriage prospects are zero right now and I will not even think about having a baby being single.

So the way I see it, I don't really don't need to have this any longer. I've heard the same about women gauging their menopause start by when their mother started theirs, but my mother passed away when she was 42 so I really am flying clueless here.

Right now, I'm sitting at my desk, with half a bag of Hershey's miniatures laying in wait. The chocolate is helping.

Oh ladies....... please do not wish for what you really don't want. I have myself gone through the lonnnngggg P's, the b@#@#iness, the two tampons, two pads at a time, etc, etc, etc. I have had the big "M" for the last 8 years. It ain't what it's cracked up to be.
Don't be fooled into thinking you all of a sudden become little Ms Sunshine! You still get the biatchiness every month, like clockwork. Along with... sweats that will drive you insane, freezing till your teeth chatter, being constantly dizzy, need I go on. The sweats are bad enough that you will be standing not doing a thing and you will have sweat pouring off of you. Really nice when you are trying to look after customers. Along with that you get the flushed face. Believe me, please don't wish for the big "M".
A hysterectomy isn't much better either. You have to be on hormone replacement for the rest of your life to try to regulate your body's natural system. It doesn't garantee anything. Also not garanteed to turn you magically into an at that time of the month. My sister sure isn't and she had one at 22! Not to mention the multiple cancers that taking this drug can cause. Yeah...... fun!!!!!

14+, I think what I'm mainly wanting is, no more mess. OMG I can't stand it. My friend is a pad user, and she tells me I'm crazy to use tampons. We get into so many debates over which is the yuckiest one to use, but they are both equally as nasty.

And I did the math! At the average price, counting the ups and downs of inflation, in my 27 years of this joyful womanly experience, I've spent (give or take a few dollars) $1,296 on feminine products.

OH, and I've boycotted any and all Always products. "Have a happy period?" Yeah, right.

I don't understand why after a hysterectomy do we need hormone replacement pills, why don't we just revert back to how we were when we were children. Why do cats not need hormone replacement pills after they are spayed? Or maybe they do, Sweet Pea is not so sweet sometimes.
