Monkey is eating raw meat, but not chunks...

I have been trying to convert my cat from wet food to raw. We are now at a stage where he will eat the raw meat if i cut it into little pieces and mix with abit of tuna (before Grain pureed tuna). Using this trick he has eaten some turkey meat, a chicken heart and some beef. I would like to move to more substantial pieces where he would need to use his teeth to chew/tear at the meat. So far if i mix large chunks with tuna he figures this out and just licks the tuna off and leaves the large chuncks... ah he also gives me evil looks when he finds these chunks but thats allright

any ideas or advice that has worked for you?

Thanks !

Fortunately I've never had any problems feeding raw so probably not too many tips here.

You could try salmon chunks see how Monkey likes them, if he will go for that you could try slipping in a piece of chicken.

Maybe try different meat type ie: my Duffy won't eat raw beef but she loves cooked beef, she will eat raw bison.

You could try starting with ground raw since the consistency is closer to canned then once Monkey is established eating it add in chunks.

a staff member at my vets has a Samoyed dog named Monkey

I am curious to know how long have you been adding in the little pieces of raw meat?

I like Growlers idea about ground raw....this is how I transitioned my two cats and it took some time but eventually they transitioned to all raw. Once they were on all raw then I started introducing chunks. It was all at cat pace. My male cat took to raw much quicker than my female. If I put too much ground in with her canned she sometimes would not eat it. So, I would have to back up and lessen the ground again. But we got there

Patience is the key with your cat

I have the same problem with my cats. Puddles will only lick her food, so ground is no problem, but chunks keep on rolling away from her . Jasper will eat chunks if he is REALLY hungry and woofs down his dinner. Sweet Pea will eat around the chunks . So I am willing to try anything that people suggest too.
