Medi-cal, the only thing that doesn't give my pup gas! Can only be bought at the vet though so kind of inconvenient and pricey.

Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed.... all natural, decent price, already has glucosamine/chonrdoitin in it for joints. It's wonderful!
I was feeding the pup Iams (read:crap) He developed sebaceous cysts within 2 weeks of being on it, his coat was really dandruffy. I switched both of my dogs to the Nutro and now, within 6 weeks, his cysts are gone...and my other dog that always seemed to not feel well, she didn't smell nice, her breath was horrid..blah blah blah...she's now shiny, spunky, smells normal and her breath is much better!! Yaaaa Nutro!! I will never go back.... P.S. Puppy gas is almost non-existent (at least we can't smell it) It was pretty rank with the Iams. |

Nutro Large Breed Weight Mgmt for the golden and Nutro Small Bites for the mini doxie. Natural, LB has the g/c for joints. Mini doxie "demands" 2 or 3 pieces of the golden's kibble in his bowl too. These guys not much on veggies, former golden loved brocoli. As a treat they get the very occasional piece of pizza crust, maybe 2 or 3 times in a year

I use Medical & when she is being weaned onto adult food in 2 to 3 months time, I am going to try her on Innova. I don't like the first few ingredients in the adult Medical Preventative, if I remember correctly, its corn and other grains.

I feed...
Nutro Natural Choice Large Breed. As I am down to one dog, I have been considering a higher grade of food:
Wellness Innova Evo Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul Just have to figure out which one now. I think I will consult the petfood store as to which one to go with... they are pretty open and honest there.

Thank you. I am about to switch my little puppy over to Nutro Natural Choice puppy food. I was surprised they had it our local pet supply store, since I'd never heard of it until yesterday when I read some of your guys' posts. At Feeder's Supply it is actually cheaper than Science Diet or Eukanuba!! Not nearly as expensive as I thought. I paid about $4 for a 4 lb bag of Purina, and the Nutro puppy food is $20 for a 20 lb bag. So it's about the same price.
I figure I'll just keep it sealed up in a plastic container so it'll stay fresh. |

Performatrim Ultra
Performatrim Ultra. Both dry and canned. A little pricey but I feel they are worth it. The local Valu Pet has a wholesale plan. Prepay for six and you save the cost of a full bag but don't have to take it home all at once.
I used to use Nutro Large Breed with glucosamine for my 80lb dog but once I had the 40lb dog I needed a common food. The large breed gets glucosamine caps and shark cartilage as supplements due to a little arthritis in the one elbow. Since I switched the results are awesome. Still Nutro is great food too |

I saw some before and after pics of dogs on some kind of store brand dog food, after they switched to Nutro. Their coats were so glossy and this one dalmation had what looked like acne on his belly and after 9 weeks her skin was perfect.
I want my dog to look and feel that healthy, so it's the least I can do. |

Our Cookie eats a 'base' of Purina One Lamb & Rice with Glucosomine
... mixed with fresh cooked meat and veggies, with a glass of skim milk on the side (really!) Her favourite mix is boiled turkey legs au jus ... but just loves roast beef with boiled carrots. Her least favourite is boiled hamburger. She eats fruit salad at her Nanny's but will run if she smells a banana. I started givng her a bit of milk one day when she was having an especially hard time with her hips ... didn't want her to strain & was told it could have a laxitive effect ... but it did nothing but please her, so now 1/8 to 1/4 of a cup on the side is a standard with her evening meal. Deyhdrated lung is a favourite stuffing for her Kong (her gotta-go-to-sleep-sometime slow down treat). ... and then there are her treats bones, bones, bones (knuckles and anything else she can't crack) She is doing so well on this diet! Her stools are worth a prize (lol), her weight is stable, her coat is shiny, her teeth are enough to scare a vampire, she smells like sunshine and she is so happy! Our vet was surprised, but pleased with her health and glad she has a hard belly full cuz she has to take NSAIDS now and then.

My highly allergic doggies get Solid Gold Wolf King. It's Bison and rice food. $71/33lbs (EEEK) They were on Eukanuba lamb and rice before and did well until my lab/husky got allergies. My newf/pointer is already VERY allergic to chicken so food was limited. I tell you though, I thought they were healthy and shiny before (every one at our park says they are the best looking dogs there) but after a month of this stuff-- wow. My big guy had so much more energy (he wasn't lacking either) and my little one is so shiny and soft. It's amazing how even when you give them good food, there is a difference between good food and great food. The only thing is because solid gold has no "stool hardeners" the stool is loose if you feed too much. And there is a lot more of it. Normally that's a bad thing but when you consider that commercial foods have stool hardeners- it's all compact...
I don't think I will ever feed anything with Corn meal, "Animal digest", BHT, and anything that doesn't have a meat as the first ingredient... Oh and canned food. I used to give it to them as a treat because they loved it or when they were sick (anxiety attacks) but I never let them get used to it or ask for it... |

Mine have been eating raw food for years, since the day I got them.
I was to feed kibble I would probably go with Innova, Wellness, Solid Gold or Nature's Variety. I don't see them ever eating kibble tho.

I feed chicken first, its from pet value, no by products and made with real chicken. Great for sensitive tummies. I want to eventually feed raw, but I need to get the kibble totally out of their systems as to not cause any bacteria build up. Mixing the two is horrible for the dogs (raw digests much quicker so any bacteria build up is pushed out, adding kibble slows down this process for quite a few hours so the bacteria can build up and cause alot of damage) so I am waiting until I can fully commit myself to the raw They love the chicken first though.
