Anyone used Bark Busters?
Anyone heard of/used Bark Busters for training their dog? Hubby and I are considering attending obedience training with Byron and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions. So far, the only one registered with the Canadian Assoc. of Pet Dog Trainers that serve my area is Bark Busters...

Search here- there are a couple of threads about them already, I think.

Would yellow pages be a better bet?

Is there a dog park near you? You could ask other people.. Word of mouth is the most reliable, IMO. Or tenderfoot (the pets.ca expert trainer) has DVDs you can buy...

I've heard like one good thing telling me that I'm not being open minded enough.. and multiple scary experiences..
Some of the reason they get business is due to apparently 'guaranteeing their training for life' people think they are getting a sweet deal.

Not sure what is wrong with Bark Busters, never tried them myself, the woman from Doxie Rescue, now with Yorkies I think, who posts here, liked them.
I would ask local rescues and your SPCA for trainer suggestions. |

I used Barkbusters some years back. I met with two different trainers, who were both barkbusters, but they were different. My advice is that if you have a dog that everyone else tells you to euthanize, and some trainers won't even want to deal with, then yes, give them a call. In other words, I think that they can help you make progress with a tough case. If you have a lighter case, or what you want is really socialization, some basic manners, and positivity and dog biscuits work well for you, then perhaps keep looking.
I think some of the same people that talk about running the other way from certain trainers, might just euthanize a dog that needs some 'tough love' kind of training. Good luck |

I looked into using BarkBusters and talked on the phone with the local rep about her services. I did not get a good impression and my husband and I were glad we went with our gut reaction. I agree with what one person said to ask your vet for recommendations. Are you close to any neighbouring towns that might have more options?
